CW Bureau ·

Nissan Motor India reported a 118% year-on-year increase in domestic wholesales in May 2026, marking its third consecutive month of domestic sales growth as the automaker continues to gain traction in the Indian market.

The company recorded domestic wholesales of 2,948 units during the month, while exports stood at 5,023 units, taking total wholesales to 7,971 units.

Third straight month of growth
The latest performance extends Nissan’s growth momentum, with May becoming the third consecutive month in which the company posted year-on-year growth in domestic sales.

The automaker said the sustained improvement reflects increasing customer acceptance of its product portfolio and continued efforts to strengthen its market presence in India.

Gravite and Magnite drive customer interest
Nissan attributed the positive momentum to encouraging customer response across its vehicle lineup, particularly the recently launched Gravite.

The Nissan Magnite also continued to play a key role in supporting volumes, helping the company strengthen its position in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.

The automaker said growing adoption of its CNG offerings has further contributed to customer demand across key markets.

Preparing for Tekton debut
Nissan is also preparing for the world premiere of the Tekton, which the company described as an important milestone in its India growth strategy.

The upcoming launch forms part of Nissan’s broader plan to expand its product portfolio and deepen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets.

Focus on network expansion
Nissan Motor India, Managing Director, Saurabh Vatsa, said: “Our third consecutive month of year-on-year domestic sales growth is an encouraging reflection of the trust customers continue to place in Nissan. The response to the Gravite, along with the continued strength of Magnite, including the growing adoption of our CNG offerings, gives us confidence in our India strategy. As we gear up for the world premiere of the Nissan Tekton, our focus remains on expanding our network footprint, enhancing accessibility, and delivering a stronger customer experience across the country.”

Momentum continues
Nissan said it remains focused on sustaining domestic growth, expanding its dealership and service network, and improving customer experience across markets.

With strong demand for the Magnite, growing interest in the newly launched Gravite and the upcoming debut of Tekton, the company is positioning itself for the next phase of growth in India.
