VA Tech Wabag Wins Ajman Sewage Treatment Project, Enters UAE Market

VA Tech Wabag, a leading pure-play multinational water technology Group,  has secured a design-and-build contract for the proposed Ajman Sewage Biorefinery Plant – Phase 3 in the United Arab Emirates, marking the company’s entry into the UAE market and strengthening its presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The contract has been awarded by Ajman Sewerage (Pvt) Company Ltd and will be executed through a consortium arrangement, with Wabag serving as the consortium leader.

Large-scale wastewater treatment facility planned
The project, scheduled for completion over a 24-month period, involves the design, engineering, procurement and construction of a 60 MLD sewage treatment plant.

The scope includes inlet works, primary and secondary treatment systems, and sludge management facilities comprising digesters, gas holders, scrubbers and power generation systems.

Additional components include odour control systems and disc filters designed to ensure compliance with treated effluent quality standards.

Advanced treatment technologies to be deployed
According to the company, the facility will incorporate advanced mechanical and biological treatment technologies based on the activated sludge process (ASP).

The project will also feature tertiary treatment through disc filtration systems, aimed at enhancing wastewater treatment efficiency and supporting sustainable water management objectives.

GCC footprint receives a boost
Wabag said the order represents a significant milestone in its regional expansion strategy and strengthens its credentials to pursue larger and more complex opportunities across the GCC and West Asia.
