Oil India, CSIR Sign Pact For Joint Research & Technology Development

Oil India Ltd (OIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to collaborate on research, innovation and technology development across the energy sector.

The partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both organisations to develop advanced technologies and innovative solutions for upstream and downstream oil and gas operations, hydrocarbon reservoir optimisation, enhanced oil recovery, renewable energy and critical minerals.

Areas of collaboration

Under the agreement, OIL and CSIR will work together on developing efficient and cost-effective technologies to improve operational performance and support sustainable energy practices.

The collaboration will focus on key areas including hydrocarbon exploration and production, energy transition technologies, renewable energy solutions and resource optimisation.

The companies said the partnership is expected to accelerate the development of innovative solutions that can enhance productivity and operational efficiency across the energy value chain.

The MoU underscores OIL’s commitment to strengthening its technological capabilities through strategic collaborations with leading research institutions.

The initiative is also expected to support India’s energy security objectives by promoting innovation-led growth and indigenous technology development in the energy sector.

The agreement was signed by OIL Chairman and Managing Director Ranjit Rath and CSIR Director General N. Kalaiselvi in the presence of senior officials from both organisations, including executives from Numaligarh Refinery Ltd.
