Tyre manufacturer MRF Ltd has been awarded the prestigious Three-Star level of the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme, becoming the only Indian tyre company to achieve the highest level of environmental recognition from the global motorsport governing body.

The certification follows an independent audit conducted under the FIA Environmental Accreditation framework, which assessed MRF’s environmental management systems, sustainability practices and responsible manufacturing processes across its motorsport tyre operations.

Journey powered by performance and responsibility
“MRF’s global motorsport journey is powered by performance and responsibility. This FIA Three-Star accreditation reinforces our commitment to sustainable innovation, environmental stewardship and continuous improvement across our operations worldwide today,” said MRF Ltd Vice Chairman and Managing Director Arun Mammen.

Global recognition for sustainability
With the accreditation, MRF joins a select group of global motorsport tyre manufacturers that have secured the FIA’s highest environmental certification.

The FIA audit acknowledged the company’s structured approach to environmental management, continuous improvement initiatives and responsible manufacturing practices across its motorsport business.

Focus on environmental management
MRF manufactures its motorsport tyres at facilities certified under the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System standard. The audit also highlighted that these manufacturing locations maintain ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification.

According to the audit findings, the company has established SMART environmental objectives aimed at reducing specific power consumption, fuel usage, water consumption and waste generation across its operations.

Monitoring key sustainability metrics
The FIA assessment recognised MRF’s monitoring and measurement systems across multiple environmental impact areas, including energy consumption, waste management, water usage, biodiversity, air quality, noise levels, materials sourcing, procurement, transportation and carbon emissions.

The review also covered the company’s management of Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions as part of its broader sustainability framework.

Strengthening motorsport sustainability
The FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation represents the highest level within the federation’s environmental programme and reflects an organisation’s ability to embed sustainability into its operations through measurable actions and continuous improvement.

The recognition underscores MRF’s efforts to integrate environmental responsibility into its global motorsport activities while maintaining the performance standards for which the brand is known internationally.
