Adani Calls For Faster Electrification To Strengthen Green Energy Security

CW Bureau ·

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has called for faster electrification, saying renewable energy integrated with storage will be key to strengthening energy security, ensuring affordability and supporting long-term economic growth.

He was speaking at the inaugural session of Adani Green Energy Dialogue, hosted by AGEL in partnership with the Energy Transitions Commission (ETC) during London Climate Action Week.

AGEL Executive Director Sagar Adani said electrification had become essential for countries seeking resilient growth and greater energy independence.

Storage key to renewables

“Energy security, affordability and sustainability are among the defining challenges of our time. Electrification is emerging as one of the most effective pathways to address all three,” he said.

According to him, countries seeking resilient growth and greater energy independence, accelerating electrification is no longer an option but an imperative.

“Renewable energy reaches its full potential when paired with storage technologies such as Battery Energy Storage Systems and Pumped Storage Projects. They make clean power reliable, affordable and available round the clock,” he added.

Investment roadmap

He said AGEL was advancing towards 50 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, anchored by the world’s largest renewable energy project at Khavda, Gujarat, where clean energy is being integrated with large-scale storage.

The Adani Group has committed more than $100 billion towards the energy transition and related infrastructure, with investments spanning transmission, energy storage, green hydrogen, digital infrastructure and next-generation industrial ecosystems to support a low-carbon economy.
