CW Bureau ·

Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd is sharpening its focus on rural market expansion and science-led product innovation as it charts its growth strategy towards 2030, according to its Annual Report 2026.

While the company will be increasingly focusing on artificial intelligence, data analytics, it will also strive to strengthen its market leadership by improving operational efficiency across its value chain.

AI and data analytics to strengthen value chain
In her message to shareholders, Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Prabha Narasimhan, said digital agility will remain central to the company’s long-term strategy.

“We are focused on reaching more households in rural markets and continuing to introduce science-led innovations in urban areas. Digital agility remains a key part of our strategy. We are using Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence to improve our value chain, from forecasting to consumer engagement. By refining our presence across traditional and digital retail, we aim to be available whenever our consumers need us,” she said.

The company also plans to simplify operations and improve efficiencies, enabling greater reinvestment in brands and talent while pursuing sustainable growth.

FY26 momentum strengthens after challenging first half
FY26 was marked by macroeconomic pressures, geopolitical uncertainties, evolving consumer preferences and contrasting rural-urban demand trends.

Despite these headwinds, the company remained focused on three strategic priorities—driving category growth through science-backed products, maintaining strict cost discipline and strengthening micro-distribution capabilities, she said.

Business performance improved during the second half of the financial year, supported by stronger momentum in both urban and rural markets. The company reported 9% topline growth in the fourth quarter.

Healthy margins generated through its “Funding-the-Growth” programme enabled the company to increase advertising investments by 10%, supporting innovation, brand building and wider household penetration.

Science-led innovation drives product portfolio
Prabha  said it continues to position innovation around science-backed oral care and adjacent personal care categories.

During the year, the company onboarded Rahul Dravid as the face of Colgate Total, promoting oral health as a key contributor to overall performance and endurance. The campaign has been complemented by a partnership with Mumbai Indians and the introduction of the Performance Linked Oral Test (PLOT).

The company also expanded into premium oral beauty products with Visible White Purple Serum, targeting consumers seeking cosmetic oral care solutions.

In addition, Colgate relaunched Colgate Strong Teeth with an upgraded flavour and introduced products including Colgate Total Plaque, Colgate Kids Squeeze and an expanded Palmolive range.

She said these launches reflect its commitment to delivering science-backed products with tangible consumer benefits across both mass and premium segments.

Rural expansion remains a strategic priority
Looking ahead to 2030, Colgate-Palmolive India plans to deepen its presence in rural markets while continuing to introduce innovation-led products in urban centres.

The company expects investments in artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital retail capabilities and operational excellence to strengthen consumer engagement, improve supply chain efficiency and support long-term sustainable growth.
