EMotorad Set To Build Manufacturing Facility In AP’s Kuppam For E-Cycles

CW Bureau ·

Electric cycle manufacturer EMotorad will establish a new manufacturing facility in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, after being allotted a seven-acre site under the region’s Green City Initiative, strengthening its manufacturing footprint and supporting India’s clean mobility ambitions.

The new facility will be developed in collaboration with the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA) as part of a broader urban development programme led by IIT Kanpur and KADA. Besides expanding production capacity, the project is expected to create employment opportunities for the local community.

Manufacturing expansion to support e-mobility
The company said the Kuppam plant will enhance its manufacturing capacity and support the production of affordable electric cycles for customers in Andhra Pradesh and across India.

The project forms part of the Green City Initiative, which focuses on cleaner and smarter urban development by integrating sustainable mobility, domestic manufacturing and job creation.

CEO highlights long-term commitment
EMotorad Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Kunal Gupta said, “Kuppam holds a special place in EMotorad’s journey. It’s where we set our world record earlier this year, and that moment stayed with us. It made us want to put down roots here, not just pass through.”

He added, “Setting up this facility is just an indication of our intentions for a city that has given us so much. Beyond manufacturing, this is about building something lasting for the people of Kuppam, real jobs, real infrastructure, and a stake in India’s clean mobility future. We’re deeply thankful to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his leadership behind the Green City Initiative and for trusting us to be part of that story.”

Part of larger sustainability push
EMotorad said the new plant marks another milestone in its efforts to make India a global hub for electric mobility manufacturing.

The Pune-headquartered company joins several organisations selected for the Green City Initiative, including Mother Dairy, Adidas and Aditya Birla Group’s Hindalco, highlighting the scale of the sustainable development programme aimed at transforming Kuppam into a green industrial hub.

Founded in 2020, EMotorad has built a network of more than 800 dealerships, operates in over 18 countries, and offers electric cycles across commuter, children’s, micromobility, fitness and leisure segments. The company has raised cumulative funding of $25 million to date.
