Lupin Ltd is stepping up its focus on biosimilars, specialty medicines, complex generics and artificial intelligence (AI) as it builds the next phase of its growth strategy, according to Chief Executive Officer Vinita Gupta and Managing Director Nilesh Gupta in a joint message to shareholders in the company’s Annual Report 2026.

The leadership said years of investing ahead of industry trends are beginning to yield results, with the company strengthening its capabilities across differentiated therapies, advanced manufacturing and digital transformation to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global pharmaceutical industry.

Expanding presence in complex therapies
The company continued to expand its portfolio during FY26 across complex generics, biosimilars, inhalation therapies, injectables and specialty medicines, segments where scientific complexity creates higher barriers to entry and sustainable competitive advantages.

Among the year’s key achievements was the US approval of Armlupeg, the company’s first biosimilar in the American market. The approval marks Lupin’s entry into one of the fastest-growing segments of global healthcare after years of investment in biologics research, development and manufacturing.

The company also launched the generic version of Risperdal Consta®, the first product developed using its proprietary Nanomi long-acting injectable platform, strengthening its capabilities in advanced drug delivery technologies.

Entry into obesity and diabetes therapies
Lupin is also expanding into novel medicines through a strategic partnership with Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals to develop Bofanglutide, a fortnightly GLP-1 receptor agonist targeting diabetes and obesity.

The company believes the collaboration positions it to tap the rapidly growing market for metabolic disorder treatments as demand for next-generation obesity and diabetes therapies accelerates globally.

Specialty medicines emerge as growth engine
They aid specialty medicines will become an increasingly important contributor to its long-term growth.

The company has built capabilities in respiratory medicine and neuro-rare diseases and is now strengthening its ophthalmology portfolio through the acquisition of VISUfarma, which expands both its specialty product portfolio and commercial presence in Europe.

The company will continue to pursue both organic and inorganic growth opportunities while maintaining a disciplined capital allocation strategy.

Building an integrated healthcare ecosystem
Beyond pharmaceuticals, Lupin is broadening its healthcare offerings by investing in diagnostics, digital health, neurorehabilitation and consumer healthcare.

They said patients increasingly expect integrated healthcare solutions that go beyond medicines, including earlier diagnosis, better information and continuous engagement throughout their treatment journey.

These adjacent businesses are expected to strengthen patient outcomes while helping Lupin build deeper relationships across the healthcare ecosystem.

AI and digital transformation to shape future
Looking ahead, Lupin expects advances in biology, precision medicine, digital technologies and AI to reshape the healthcare landscape.

The company plans to continue investing in science, manufacturing quality, specialty medicines and complex products while deploying AI and digital technologies to improve drug discovery, development and delivery.

Leadership outlook
The company remains committed to expanding access to affordable and innovative medicines while building a stronger and more resilient business.

They said Lupin’s long-term priorities include investing in scientific innovation, strengthening quality across its manufacturing network, expanding its specialty portfolio, adopting AI-driven technologies and maintaining disciplined capital allocation to create sustainable value for patients and shareholders.
