ICICI Bank has reaffirmed its strategy of pursuing risk-calibrated profitable growth while strengthening its digital capabilities, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and maintaining robust governance standards to remain resilient in an evolving banking landscape.

In his message to shareholders in the ICICI Bank Annual Report 2026, Chairman Pradeep Kumar Sinha said the bank has optimised all levers of profitability while capitalising on market opportunities without compromising on risk management.

He said the bank delivered healthy portfolio growth during the year, supported by resilient risk frameworks that helped it navigate market volatility.

The bank’s disciplined asset pricing strategy, coupled with a sustained focus on expanding its retail deposit franchise and mobilising low-cost deposits, enabled it to maintain profitability despite intense competition in the banking sector.

Sinha noted that ICICI Bank continues to prioritise the selection of quality counterparties while focusing on return on capital, allowing it to pursue opportunities across diverse ecosystems and micro-markets. He added that the bank’s balance sheet remains resilient, backed by prudent provisioning, healthy capital buffers and adequate liquidity.

Technology and AI at the core
Highlighting technology as a key growth driver, Sinha said ICICI Bank is strengthening its delivery systems through simplified processes, enhanced data analytics and greater use of India’s digital public infrastructure.

He said the bank has invested in technology platforms, forged strategic partnerships and developed multiple use cases for Generative AI while putting in place robust safeguards for data privacy and cybersecurity.

According to him, the rapid evolution of AI technologies presents significant opportunities to improve banking operations, customer service and efficiency, and the bank remains committed to investing in technology infrastructure and cybersecurity to ensure safe and resilient banking services.

Governance and customer-centric approach
Sinha said the Board remains committed to building a future-ready, resilient and trustworthy financial institution.

He said that as a systemically important bank, ICICI Bank recognises its responsibility to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance through strong policies, compliance frameworks and agile risk management practices.

The Chairman added that the bank continues to follow the principle of “Fair to Customer, Fair to Bank”, ensuring responsible product sales while fostering a service-oriented culture and maintaining ethical conduct across all customer interactions.
