Mango Dominates Swiggy’s Summer Orders; Healthy Food Demand Rises

CW Bureau ·

Mango emerged as India’s undisputed favourite flavour this summer, with orders for mango-based desserts and beverages rising sharply, while demand for healthy food options more than doubled, according to Swiggy’s Summer Trends 2026 report.

Analysing consumer food ordering patterns between April 15 and June 16, 2026, the on-demand convenience platform found that dessert orders grew 19.2% year-on-year, while cold beverage demand increased 20.7% during the peak summer season.

Mango reigns supreme
The report showed that the “king of fruits” retained its crown, with demand for mango-flavoured desserts and ice creams climbing 19.3% year-on-year.

Swiggy delivered an average of 1,547 Mango Lassis every day during the two-month period, making it one of the most popular mango beverages on the platform.

The company also found that Pune’s iconic Mango Mastani gained popularity beyond its home city, with strong demand emerging from Nashik, Mysuru and Mangaluru. Among baked desserts, Mango Tart emerged as the top favourite.

The summer also witnessed some unusually large mango-themed orders. A customer in Bhopal ordered 120 pieces of Mango Cake in a single order, while another customer in Mumbai spent ₹16,644 on an order comprising 38 Mango Gateaux.

Dessert demand rises across emerging cities
Overall dessert consumption continued to grow strongly, with emerging cities outpacing larger metros.
Amaravati recorded the highest growth in dessert orders at 63% year-on-year, followed by Thanjavur with 44.1% growth, highlighting the increasing appetite for indulgent treats beyond India’s major metropolitan markets.

Coconut joins the summer favourites
While mango remained the clear winner, coconut-flavoured ice cream also emerged as one of the season’s most preferred cooling treats.

Demand for coconut ice cream increased 13.4% year-on-year, with Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad leading consumption among metros, while Surat, Raipur and Vadodara topped the list among emerging cities.

Customers also placed unusually large coconut ice cream orders. A consumer in Central Goa ordered 60 units of tender coconut ice cream in one transaction, while a customer in Hyderabad spent ₹17,780 exclusively on tender coconut ice cream.

Coffee-based cold drinks gain popularity
Beyond fruit flavours, coffee-based beverages emerged as one of the fastest-growing categories. Demand for coffee and mocha-based cold beverages jumped 38.4% year-on-year, significantly outpacing overall cold beverage growth. Orders peaked between 4 pm and 9 pm, with Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru accounting for the highest demand.

Swiggy said caffeine-based beverages grew 2.5 times faster than the overall cold beverage category during the period.

Healthy eating gathers pace
The report also highlighted consumers’ growing preference for healthier food choices. Demand for high-protein meals surged 84% year-on-year, while low-calorie food witnessed an impressive 105% growth.

Orders for zero-sugar and sugar-free food options also increased by nearly 30%, reflecting the growing focus on health-conscious eating even during the indulgent summer season.
