Mahindra Arm, Sumitomo Sign MoU To Expand Chennai Industrial Park

Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd (MLDL), the real estate and infrastructure arm of the Mahindra Group, has expanded its partnership with Sumitomo Corporation, Japan, for the next phase of Origins by Mahindra in Chennai.

The companies have executed a Second Supplemental Agreement for the development of Phase 2B of the integrated industrial park.

Expansion plan

The agreement provides the framework for the acquisition, transfer and development of 95 acres under Phase 2B.

With the latest expansion, the total area across all phases of Origins by Mahindra will increase to 540 acres.

Strengthening partnership

Mahindra Lifespaces and Sumitomo Corporation began their partnership with Phase 1 of the project in 2015.

The collaboration was expanded through Phase 2A in 2024 and has now been extended to Phase 2B.

Industrial ecosystem

“Our partnership with Sumitomo Corporation has played an important role in creating a high-quality industrial ecosystem that serves both global and domestic manufacturers. The execution of this Second Supplemental Agreement marks another milestone in our shared vision,” said Mahindra Lifespace Developers Managing Director & CEO Amit Kumar Sinha.

The company said the expansion is expected to attract the next wave of global and domestic investments, particularly from Japanese manufacturers establishing operations in India.

Growth outlook

The project is expected to further strengthen Chennai’s position as a preferred industrial and logistics hub.
