L&T Wins 6-Year EPC Framework Deal From Petroleum Development Oman

Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore business has secured a six-year engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) framework agreement from Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), positioning the Indian engineering major among four contractors eligible to execute the Omani energy company’s upcoming projects.

The framework agreement enables L&T to participate in PDO’s forthcoming front-end engineering design (FEED) and EPC projects over the next six years, strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two organisations.

The contract is expected to enhance L&T’s presence in the Middle East’s oil and gas sector, where the company has built a strong execution track record across upstream, midstream and downstream hydrocarbon projects.

Focus on integrated project delivery
Under the agreement, L&T will leverage its integrated engineering, procurement and execution capabilities, along with its global project management expertise, to support PDO’s future capital projects.

The company said it will also continue to support Oman’s In-Country Value (ICV) programme by creating opportunities for local suppliers, subcontractors and service providers, while contributing to the development of local technical capabilities.

Offers sustainable project delivery
“L&T remains committed to supporting PDO’s development plans through safe, innovative and sustainable project delivery,” L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore, Senior Vice President & Head, E S Sathyanarayanan, said.

He described the framework agreement as an important milestone in the long-standing association between the two companies and said it would also contribute to Oman’s long-term energy and economic growth objectives.

Strengthening West Asia footprint
The latest agreement reinforces L&T’s strategy of expanding its international EPC portfolio, particularly in the energy-rich Gulf region. The company’s Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore business is among India’s largest EPC players, offering lump-sum turnkey solutions across refining, petrochemicals, gas processing, LNG terminals, fertiliser plants and cross-country pipeline projects.

Petroleum Development Oman is the Sultanate’s largest exploration and production company, accounting for the bulk of the country’s crude oil output and natural gas production. The company plays a pivotal role in Oman’s energy security and economic development while driving localisation through its In-Country Value initiatives.
