FY26 marked a transformational year for Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CPCL), with the company attaining Navratna status, launching its first retail fuel brand “SOOPER” and outlining an ambitious expansion strategy that includes setting up 300 retail fuel outlets across India.
The company also celebrated its Diamond Jubilee during the year, marking six decades of operations while positioning itself for the next phase of growth through refining expansion, digital transformation and cleaner technologies.
Expansion plans
As part of its downstream expansion, CPCL plans to establish 300 retail fuel outlets across the country.
The company is also implementing the LOBS Group-II/III project under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative to produce 256 thousand metric tonnes per annum of higher-grade Lube Oil Base Stock.
Purusue growth
“The enhanced autonomy associated with Navratna status will enable CPCL to accelerate strategic initiatives, pursue growth opportunities with greater agility and strengthen long-term stakeholder value creation,” the Directors said in a letter to shareholders.
The company said Navratna status will provide stronger financial and operational flexibility through faster investment decisions, accelerated capital expenditure, expansion through joint ventures and acquisitions, and greater organisational empowerment.

Production details
CPCL continues to strengthen the competitiveness of its core refining business through initiatives such as production of Group II/III Lube Oil Base Stocks, advanced process optimisation and digital transformation.
These initiatives are aimed at improving operational flexibility, enhancing product realisation and preparing the organisation for evolving market requirements.

The company said innovation remains central to its transformation strategy, with continuous investments in research, process improvements, digital technologies and advanced analytics to improve efficiency, reliability and operational performance.
