The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Sri City, an institute of national importance, awarded degrees to 328 students, including 10 Ph.D. scholars and 318 B.Tech. graduates, at its 10th Convocation, underscoring the institute’s growing reputation for academic excellence and strong industry linkages.
Degrees were conferred by Prof S R Mahadeva Prasanna, Director (Additional Charge), in the presence of Prof. Ramesh Venkateswaran, Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Board members, faculty, students, parents and alumni. Sri City Chairman Srini Raju was also present at the ceremony.
Suchitra Ella inspires graduates
Delivering the convocation address, Padma Bhushan awardee Bharat Biotech Chairman & Managing Director Suchitra Ella urged students to focus on becoming “persons of value” rather than merely chasing success.
She encouraged graduates to embrace resilience, lifelong learning, innovation and ethical leadership while using emerging technologies responsibly. She also called upon them to dream big, uphold integrity and compassion, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Ella lauded the vision of Srini Raju and Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director of Sri City, for building a world-class industrial ecosystem and highlighted IIIT Sri City’s role in nurturing innovation and supporting India’s development.
Strong placement performance
Presenting the institute’s annual report for 2025-26, Prof. Mahadeva Prasanna said IIIT Sri City achieved a 92.1% placement rate, with graduates securing an average annual salary package of ₹17.82 lakh, while the highest offer touched ₹1.2 crore.
He also highlighted key academic and research milestones, including record Ph.D. admissions under the MeitY Visvesvaraya Scheme, publication of 34 international journal papers, patents, recognitions from DRDO and NIOT, and the successful hosting of UDBHAV, the national Inter-IIIT Hackathon.
Academic excellence recognised
Of the graduating B.Tech. students, 248 were from Computer Science and Engineering and 70 from Electronics and Communication Engineering.
The institute awarded Research Honours to 31 students, while 15 students completed academic specialisations. Four graduates earned both Research Honours and specialisations.
Gold Medals were presented to Bishwajeet Sahoo and Mantri Varun Rakesh for outstanding academic performance.
Focus on nation building
Addressing the graduating class, Prof. Ramesh Venkateswaran urged students to leverage their education for nation-building, remain committed to lifelong learning and ethical leadership, and maintain strong ties with their alma mater.
The convocation marked another milestone in IIIT Sri City’s journey of advancing education, research and innovation while producing industry-ready technology professionals.
