Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has rolled out an assured buyback programme for the Hyundai Creta Electric, offering customers a 60% assured buyback value after three years or up to 45,000 km, in a move aimed at addressing one of the biggest concerns among prospective electric vehicle (EV) buyers, the resale value.
The initiative is designed to strengthen customer confidence in EV ownership while supporting Hyundai’s broader strategy to accelerate electric mobility adoption in India.
The company said uncertainty around long-term residual value remains a key factor influencing purchase decisions in the EV segment. The assured buyback programme seeks to provide customers with greater financial certainty and peace of mind throughout the ownership cycle.
Strengthening EV ecosystem
Hyundai Motor India MD & CEO Tarun Garg said the next phase of EV adoption in India would depend not only on technological advancements but also on improving consumer confidence.
“Creta Electric has been engineered to deliver an exceptional ownership experience backed by Hyundai’s global EV expertise and the trust of the iconic Creta brand. Our assured buyback programme, offering 60% assured buyback value, reflects our confidence in the product’s outstanding quality, reliability and long-term value,” he said.
He added that the buyback programme, along with Hyundai’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) initiative, expanding charging infrastructure and future EV roadmap, would help create one of India’s most comprehensive EV ecosystems.
Focus on ownership experience
Hyundai said the assured buyback programme complements its wider EV strategy, which includes flexible ownership models, a nationwide charging network, connected digital services and an expanding portfolio of electric vehicles.
The company believes that creating a seamless ownership experience is as important as introducing advanced EV technology, particularly as the Indian market enters its next phase of growth.
Creta Electric features
Built on the success of the Creta SUV brand, the Creta Electric is available with two battery pack options, 51.4 kWh and 42 kWh.
The long-range variant delivers an ARAI-certified driving range of 510 km, while the standard version offers 420 km on a single charge.
The SUV also supports DC fast charging, enabling the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in 39 minutes.
Other key features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, Digital Key, Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS, side foot step and acceleration from 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds in the long-range version.
Battery subscription option
To make EV ownership more affordable, Hyundai recently introduced its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for the Creta Electric.
Under the programme, the SUV is available at an introductory price of ₹10.99 lakh, while customers can opt for battery usage charges starting from ₹3.9 per kilometre, significantly lowering the upfront acquisition cost.
The latest assured buyback programme is expected to further strengthen the value proposition of the Creta Electric by reducing concerns around depreciation and enhancing long-term ownership confidence.
