Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) has entered the India Book of Records after a convoy of 60 Tekton premium SUVs successfully completed a Himalayan expedition to Leh, marking the largest convoy of a single-model four-wheeler to reach Leh.
The feat coincides with Nissan’s celebration of 75 years of SUV excellence and showcases the capability of its latest premium SUV in some of India’s most demanding driving conditions.
The five-day expedition covered more than 700 km, climbing from Chandigarh (1,053 feet) through Manali and Shinku La Pass (16,703 feet) before culminating in Leh (11,480 feet). The convoy was driven by media personnel and industry experts, traversing highways, mountain passes, varying weather conditions and high-altitude terrain.
Capability put to the test
According to Nissan, the expedition demonstrated the Tekton’s capability, durability and engineering strength under real-world driving conditions across diverse terrains.
Nissan Motor India Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa said the achievement is a fitting celebration of the company’s 75-year SUV legacy.
“Entering the India Book of Records with the Tekton is a proud moment for Nissan Motor India. While the record itself is significant, what makes it more meaningful is that 60 Tekton SUVs successfully completed a demanding Himalayan drive, demonstrating the vehicle’s capability, durability and engineering strength in real-world conditions,” he said.
Vatsa added that the milestone reflects Nissan’s commitment to offering premium SUVs that inspire customer confidence across India’s varied driving environments.
Made in India for global markets
Manufactured at Chennai plant under the company’s ‘One Car, One World’ philosophy, the Tekton has been engineered for Indian customers and export markets, including the West Asia and Africa.
Inspired by Nissan’s iconic Patrol SUV, the Tekton features bold styling, Japanese craftsmanship, advanced safety technologies, Google Built-in with access to more than 200 apps through Google Play, and a 100% turbocharged engine lineup.
Pricing and availability
Tekton is available at introductory ex-showroom prices starting at ₹10.49 lakh for the Turbo T160 range and ₹14.99 lakh for the Turbo T280 range.
Bookings are open across Nissan dealerships and digital platforms nationwide, while customer deliveries commenced on July 20, 2026.
The record-setting expedition is expected to strengthen Nissan’s positioning in India’s highly competitive mid-size SUV segment by highlighting the Tekton’s off-road capability and endurance credentials.
