JSW Energy Ltd, a leading private power producer, has completed the acquisition of 100% equity share capital of Maruti Clean Coal & Power Ltd (MCCPL) for an enterprise value of ₹1,410 crore, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary.
MCCPL owns and operates a 300 MW thermal power plant at Korba in Chhattisgarh. The plant has a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 195 MW with Rajasthan discoms through PTC India, with a residual tenure of 14 years.
Acquisition strengthens thermal portfolio
The plant also supplies 5% power at variable cost to the Chhattisgarh discom, while the remaining 64 MW capacity is sold in the merchant market. Coal supply is secured through a long-term Fuel Supply Agreement with SECL under the SHAKTI scheme.
The acquired asset reported an EBITDA of ₹279 crore in FY26. The company said the acquisition will be EBITDA and PAT accretive from day one, while reducing net leverage and strengthening the balance sheet.
Capacity rises to 14,835 MW
With the acquisition, JSW Energy’s total installed generation capacity has increased to 14,835 MW.

The asset complements our existing generation portfolio and enhances our ability to deliver dependable power while supporting India’s growing energy needs,” said JSW Energy Joint Managing Director & CEO Sharad Mahendra.
Operational synergies expected
“Beyond the immediate financial benefits, we see further upside from optimisation of logistics and O&M costs, with the plant’s proximity to our Mahanadi facility unlocking operational synergies and strengthening our regional thermal footprint,” he said.
JSW Energy currently operates 5,958 MW of thermal capacity, with another 3,800 MW under construction at its Salboni and Mahanadi thermal power plants, besides a 1,200 MW brownfield expansion pipeline at Mahanadi.
Long-term growth plans
The company has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW, comprising 14.8 GW operational capacity, 13.6 GW under construction across thermal, hydro and renewable energy, and a development pipeline of 4 GW.
It also has 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, including 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems. The company aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, while targeting carbon neutrality by 2050.
