Air India Express has introduced a specially curated Onasadya meal for guests travelling on its international flights connecting Kerala with destinations across West Asia during the Onam season.
The festive offering was launched in Thiruvananthapuram by P. C. Vishnunadh, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinema, Government of Kerala, in the presence of Sunil Suresh, Head-Marketing, E-commerce, and Loyalty, Air India group.
Guests travelling between August 15 and August 31, 2026, can pre-book the festive meal through Air India Express or the Air India Express mobile app, up to 18 hours before departure.
Traditional feast at 35,000 feet
Priced at ₹500, the specially curated Gourmair Onasadya brings together a selection of traditional Kerala festive dishes.
The meal includes Matta Rice with Parippu, Sambar, Avial, Koottu Curry, Erissery, Thoran, Mango Pickle, Inji Puli, Banana Chips, Sharkara Varatti and Palada Pradhaman.
The Onasadya is served on a banana leaf and comes in Kasavu-inspired packaging, drawing from Kerala’s iconic golden-bordered handloom tradition associated with Onam celebrations.
Serving Kerala’s global community
The special meal is available on all international Air India Express flights to and from Kerala’s four international gateways, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode and Kannur, connecting the state with destinations across West Asia.
Kerala Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinema, P. C. Vishnunadh, said Onam embodies togetherness, gratitude and cultural pride and offers an opportunity to showcase Kerala’s culinary traditions and hospitality.
He said initiatives such as Onasadya onboard flights could take the spirit and flavours of Onam to travellers across geographies, while helping share Kerala’s cultural heritage with guests from India and abroad.
Air India Group, Head-Marketing, E-commerce, and Loyalty, Sunil Suresh, said Kerala was central to Air India Express’ network and the communities it serves.
He said the Onasadya initiative would allow the airline to celebrate Kerala’s traditions while serving the large Malayali community travelling across its network.
Strong Kerala-West Asia connectivity
Air India Express operates around 2,850 flights a month from Kerala’s four international airports, with approximately 70% of these services connecting the state to 13 destinations across West Asia.
The destinations include Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Bahrain, Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh, Salalah and Sharjah.
The Onasadya initiative combines Kerala’s festive culinary heritage with Air India Express’ extensive international connectivity, allowing travellers to experience a traditional Onam feast while flying to and from the state.
