Plugzmart, a Tamil Nadu-based EV charging technology company incubated at IIT Madras Research Park, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to invest ₹100 crore in expanding its manufacturing footprint, R&D capabilities and EV charging infrastructure ecosystem.
The MoU was signed during the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 in Chennai in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
The proposed investment is expected to generate more than 500 direct, high-skilled jobs over the next three years in areas including hardware engineering, power electronics, embedded software and advanced manufacturing.
Scaling up Oragadam manufacturing
Plugzmart said the investment will significantly expand production capacity at its manufacturing facility in Oragadam-Vallam, one of Tamil Nadu’s key industrial and automotive manufacturing clusters.
The company develops and manufactures indigenous EV charging solutions, including AC and DC fast chargers ranging from 3.3 kW to 360 kW, ARAI-compliant charger controllers, Power Line Communication (PLC) modules and cloud-native Charger Management Systems (CMS).
The fresh capital is expected to help the company scale its manufacturing capabilities while strengthening its technology and R&D operations.
Focus on indigenous EV charging technology
Plugzmart, Co-Founder & CEO, Vivek Samynathan, said Tamil Nadu has developed a strong ecosystem for advanced manufacturing and electric mobility.
“This investment reflects our commitment to building world-class EV charging technology from Tamil Nadu and supporting India’s transition towards sustainable transportation,” he said.
Plugzmart, Co-Founder & COO, Ragavendra Ravichandran, said the company’s focus is on developing scalable and reliable charging solutions for OEMs, fleet operators, Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and public infrastructure projects.
He said the investment would enable Plugzmart to expand manufacturing capabilities, create skilled employment and contribute to the growth of EV charging infrastructure in Tamil Nadu.
Full-stack charging ecosystem
Plugzmart operates as a full-stack EV infrastructure company, developing charging hardware as well as software solutions.
Its portfolio includes indigenous controller units, PLC modules and AC/DC chargers, along with its Charge Management System (CMS) and multi-vendor smart charging software, Relay.
The company works with automotive OEMs, fleet operators, CPOs and public-sector organisations to deploy EV charging infrastructure across India.
IIT Madras Research Park incubation
Incubated at IIT Madras Research Park, Plugzmart has positioned itself as a technology-focused EV charging original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and software solutions provider.
With its operations centred in Oragadam, the company supplies charging solutions for automotive OEMs, enterprise fleets, commercial real estate companies and charge point operators.
The ₹100-crore investment is expected to strengthen Plugzmart’s manufacturing and technology capabilities while adding skilled employment and supporting Tamil Nadu’s ambition to emerge as a major hub for EV manufacturing and charging infrastructure.
The expansion also comes as India accelerates the development of EV charging networks to support the transition towards cleaner mobility.
