Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled the BE 6 SPORTEQ, the next evolution of its electric origin SUV, expanding the BE 6 portfolio with new design, technology and performance-oriented experiences.
The new SPORTEQ series builds on the sporty character and technology proposition of the BE 6, which was launched in November 2024 and has since emerged as one of Mahindra’s most prominent electric SUVs.
The company has also introduced two special expressions of the SPORTEQ philosophy — the top-end Launch Edition and the performance-focused Formula E Freedom Edition.
Eight variants, wider choice
The BE 6 SPORTEQ will be available across eight variants — ONE, TWO, THREE, THREE+, FOUR, FE, FE FOUR and Launch Edition.
The series is offered in 12 colour options, including four new shades — Rosso Impulso, Ruby Velvet, Graphite Storm and Firestorm Orange Satin.
Mahindra is positioning SPORTEQ as more than a cosmetic upgrade, with the series combining performance-inspired design with software, artificial intelligence, personalisation and entertainment features.
From the TWO variant onwards, the BE 6 SPORTEQ gets a three-screen coast-to-coast display, creating a more immersive cockpit experience. Customers looking for the original race-inspired cockpit, featuring two screens and the signature halo design, can opt for the Freedom Edition.
Software becomes a key differentiator
One of the more significant aspects of the SPORTEQ strategy is Mahindra’s focus on the BE 6 as a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV).
The company said all new technology and software features introduced with the SPORTEQ series will also be made available to existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S customers through over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
The phased rollout is scheduled to begin in January 2027, although the features available to individual customers will depend on their vehicle model and variant.
This approach allows Mahindra to extend the product lifecycle beyond the initial vehicle purchase, making software upgrades an increasingly important part of its EV ownership proposition.
AI and personalisation take centre stage
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd President Automotive Business and Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd, Velusamy R.said EV buyers are increasingly looking beyond conventional parameters such as range and acceleration.
“Electric mobility is entering a new phase,” he said, adding that customers now expect their vehicles to become more intelligent, personal and capable over their lifetime.
According to Velusamy, the SPORTEQ series, powered by MAIA, brings together AI, personalisation, performance and entertainment while leveraging the BE 6’s software-defined architecture to allow the vehicle to evolve after delivery.
Design gets a technology-led makeover
The SPORTEQ series also introduces a new Racing Tan interior, alongside the three-screen display and other material and interaction changes.
Mahindra & Mahindra, Chief Design & Creative Officer, Auto & Farm Sectors, Pratap Bose, said the design philosophy extends beyond the vehicle’s styling to encompass how customers experience the car.
He said the new cabin has been designed to deliver the same sense of theatre as the exterior, with the Racing Tan interior, coast-to-coast display and material choices aimed at creating an immersive and technology-led environment.
Mahindra & Mahindra Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, Nalinikanth Gollagunta said SPORTEQ builds on the BE 6’s bold design and sporty character while seeking to make advanced technology and everyday excitement accessible to a wider customer base.
Price positioning
Mahindra has priced the BE 6 SPORTEQ range from ₹11.45 lakh to ₹26.95 lakh, ex-showroom, depending on the variant and battery configuration.
The entry-level ONE with the 59 kWh BaaS option is priced at ₹11.45 lakh, while the conventional 59 kWh version is priced at ₹19.45 lakh.
At the other end of the range, the FOUR, Launch Edition and FE FOUR are priced at ₹26.95 lakh.
Mahindra’s EV strategy moves beyond range
The SPORTEQ launch reflects a broader shift in the electric vehicle market, where automakers are increasingly competing on software, user experience, connected technology and personalisation alongside traditional EV metrics such as battery capacity and performance.
For Mahindra, the BE 6 provides a platform to test this approach at scale. By combining multiple variants and battery configurations with OTA-enabled software upgrades, the company is attempting to make the EV a continuously evolving product rather than a vehicle whose capabilities remain largely fixed at the time of purchase.
The “Pulse Goes Rogue” campaign accompanying the launch is designed to reinforce the emotional and unconventional character that Mahindra associates with the BE 6.
With SPORTEQ, Mahindra is therefore betting that the next phase of EV differentiation will not be defined solely by how far a vehicle can travel or how quickly it can accelerate, but also by how intelligently it can evolve with its owner.
