Decathlon Sports India has expanded its ROCKRIDER Explore Series with the launch of three new made-in-India mountain bikes, the EXPL 10, EXPL 20 and EXPL 140,  catering to different riding abilities, from beginners and leisure cyclists to off-road and adventure enthusiasts.

The EXPL 140 is the highlight of the expanded range as Decathlon’s first 29-inch Made-in-India mountain bike, designed for riders looking to take on more demanding off-road trails.

Three bikes for different riding needs
The new range has been developed around Indian riders’ morphology, riding behaviour and terrain. Decathlon said the bikes incorporate locally adapted frame geometry, handlebar width, saddle ergonomics and testing protocols.

The EXPL 10 is positioned as a lightweight option for beginners and leisure riders. It features an aluminium frame, 660 mm-wide handlebars and all-weather tyres, with High Frame and Low Frame variants aimed at easy handling across neighbourhood and city-to-trail rides.

The EXPL 20 is designed for leisure riders seeking greater comfort and control. It comes with a steel frame featuring internal cable routing, a wider saddle, 660 mm handlebars and comfort grips. Mechanical disc brakes and components tested to ISO standards are aimed at providing durability for everyday and recreational cycling.

The EXPL 140, positioned for advanced and adventure-oriented riders, features an aluminium frame, 100 mm hydraulic suspension, 10-speed Shimano CUES gearing, trigger shifters and disc brakes. The 29-inch wheel platform is designed to provide greater control and capability on demanding trails.

Focus on local manufacturing
Decathlon India Sports Director Hans Peter Jensen said the company’s production journey in India began 26 years ago with exports of bicycle components.

He said the company’s ambition of having more than 97% of the bicycles sold in India Made in India had become a reality and that the ROCKRIDER Explore Series represents the next phase of its manufacturing capabilities in the country.

“With the EXPL 10, EXPL 20, and our flagship 29 inch, the EXPL 140, we are delivering a highly technical, professional-grade range that elevates overall wellbeing and active living. Designed and built locally for Indian terrain, this lineup gives every rider the precision, power and confidence to take on any adventure,” Jensen said.

Addressing India’s active-living trend
Decathlon said the expanded Explore Series comes as walking and cycling gain traction among Indian consumers as part of active lifestyles.

According to the Ipsos India Mobility Report 2026, 65% of Indians surveyed said they use walking or cycling specifically to stay active, while bicycles account for 6% of daily mobility choices.

The company said the completed ROCKRIDER Explore Series is designed to address this shift by offering bicycles across different stages of a rider’s journey,  from everyday leisure cycling to performance-oriented trail riding.

The three-bike portfolio also underscores Decathlon’s focus on combining local product development and manufacturing with technical features tailored to Indian riding conditions.
