The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, and Cultus Education have launched a nationwide cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) skilling initiative in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The programme aims to provide 1.5 lakh learners with foundational AI and cloud literacy through AWS digital training content, while offering intensive, job-ready cloud training to another 10,000 participants through the AWS re/Start programme.
The initiative is designed to expand access to globally relevant technology skills, particularly for youth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and underserved communities across India.
Online training to bridge talent gap
The programme will be delivered 100% online through Cultus Education, the NSDC-selected delivery partner, enabling learners across all states and Union Territories to participate without relocating to major metropolitan centres.
The initiative seeks to address challenges faced by young people outside major technology hubs, including limited access to globally recognised technical training, fewer connections with technology employers and a lack of industry-recognised credentials for cloud and AI careers.
Learners can begin with AWS digital training content to develop foundational AI and cloud knowledge at their own pace. Those demonstrating readiness can progress to AWS re/Start, a free, cohort-based workforce development programme.
Job-ready cloud skills and certification
AWS re/Start will provide structured, instructor-led training covering areas such as cloud infrastructure, security, networking and AI fundamentals.
Participants will also develop skills in programming, networking, security and relational databases through real-world scenarios, hands-on laboratories and coursework, supported by professional mentors and accredited instructors.
Graduates will earn an AWS Certification, an industry-recognised credential validating cloud computing skills, and gain access to qualified interview opportunities through connections with local employers.
The learning journey will culminate in a National Hackathon, where participants will showcase cloud and AI solutions before hiring managers, industry leaders and other stakeholders.

Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, said the initiative reflects the vision of Viksit Bharat, where access to opportunities is not determined by geography or background.
“As India moves towards becoming a global hub for innovation, technology and talent, it is essential that our youth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns also get the opportunity to equipped themselves with the skills needed for the jobs of the future,” Chaudhary said.
