Urban Company has secured relief from the Delhi High Court in a defamation and disparagement case against Kent RO Systems, after the water purifier maker agreed to withdraw advertisements and social media content that Urban Company alleged contained false and misleading claims about its Native range of water purifiers.
Urban Company disclosed the development to the stock exchanges on August 23, 2026, following the Delhi High Court’s order in the matter.
Kent RO agrees to pull down advertisements
Urban Company had approached the Delhi High Court on August 11, 2026, alleging that Kent RO had launched a concerted advertising campaign through advertisements and influencer-led social media content targeting the company’s Native M0, M1, M2, M1 Pro and M2 Pro water purifiers.
According to Urban Company, the campaign made claims about the two-year filter life and two-year service life offered by its Native water purifiers, describing the feature as a “marketing gimmick” and suggesting that using the products was “unsafe” and “risky” for consumers.
Urban Company subsequently filed a defamation and disparagement suit, alleging that the advertisements sought to disparage the company and its Native water purifier range.
The matter was heard at length by the Delhi High Court on August 12, 2026.
Following the hearing, Kent RO told the court that it would pull down the advertisements that were the subject of the suit. It also undertook not to run any other advertisement or promotional content making the same or similar claims regarding water purifiers offering a two-year filter life or two-year no-servicing feature that would disparage Urban Company.
The court has directed that the advertisements and social media content be removed within 15 days from August 12, 2026.
Other legal disputes remain pending
Urban Company clarified that the development does not resolve all legal disputes between the two companies. Other matters remain sub-judice, including a patent infringement suit filed by Kent RO, along with a counterclaim filed by Urban Company against Kent RO’s patent.
Urban Company has also filed a separate suit against Kent RO relating to tortious interference.
The Delhi High Court’s order in the advertising-related matter was passed on August 12 but was published on the court’s website on August 22, 2026, according to Urban Company’s stock exchange disclosure.
