Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has partnered with Jio-bp, the operating brand of Reliance BP Mobility Ltd, to integrate their respective electric vehicle charging networks and expand charging accessibility for EV users across India.
Under the partnership, EV customers will be able to discover and access Jio-bp pulse charging stations through the myHyundai app, Hyundai’s integrated EV charging platform. With the addition of the Jio-bp pulse network, the myHyundai ecosystem will now provide access to more than 37,000 public charging points across India.
HMIL’s high-capacity charging stations will also be gradually integrated into the Jio-bp pulse charge pro app, creating greater interoperability between the two charging networks.
Tackling charging anxiety
The partnership comes as EV adoption in India expands and customer concerns increasingly shift from vehicle range to the availability and reliability of charging infrastructure.
Hyundai Motor India, Executive Director and Function Head, Corporate Planning, Hyun Sup Lee, said the company is focused on providing customers with a holistic and worry-free electric mobility experience.
He said the integration of the two charging networks would simplify the charging journey for EV users by providing access to a wider network of charging solutions through the myHyundai app.
HMIL and Jio-bp pulse will also explore customer-centric offers in the future to further enhance the EV ownership experience.
Jio-bp, Chairman, Sarthak Behuria, said India’s transition to electric mobility would depend on building trust at scale. He said the partnership would combine Jio-bp’s nationwide network and high-performance charging infrastructure with Hyundai’s EV ecosystem.
Jio-bp, CEO, Akshay Wadhwa, said EV owners need confidence that charging stations will be operational when they need them. He said Jio-bp pulse focuses on high-uptime charging stations and fast-charging technology to provide a reliable charging experience.
Jio-bp adds 7,000+ charging points
Jio-bp brings more than 7,000 active charging points across over 300 cities to the partnership. A significant portion of its network is located along major national highways, supporting long-distance EV travel.
Its charging infrastructure includes DC fast chargers ranging from 60 kW to 480 kW, enabling faster charging for compatible EVs. The network has an average uptime of around 96%, according to the companies.
The integration expands HMIL’s previously announced access to more than 30,000 charging points through the myHyundai app. The addition of Jio-bp pulse’s 7,000-plus points takes the total to more than 37,000 public charging points.
Charging access open to all EV users
The myHyundai app’s charging network is not restricted to Hyundai vehicle owners. EV users across brands can use the platform to discover and access available public charging stations.
The single-platform approach is aimed at simplifying the process of locating and using charging infrastructure as India’s EV market expands.
HMIL is also strengthening its own charging infrastructure. The company currently operates 183 DC fast-charging stations and plans to expand its proprietary network to 600 stations by 2030.
The collaboration with Jio-bp adds another layer to HMIL’s charging strategy, combining proprietary infrastructure with access to a wider public charging network as the company expands its EV portfolio in India.
