IDA Ireland Eyes Deeper Engagement With Indian Tech, Engineering Firms

IDA Ireland, the national investment agency supporting global businesses in Ireland, will participate in the NASSCOM Design & Engineering Summit 2026 in Bengaluru on September 1–2, as it seeks to deepen engagement with India’s technology and engineering ecosystem.

David Gaskin, VP – APAC, Technology, Content, Consumer and Business Services, IDA Ireland, and Kanishk Kumar, Country Director,  India, IDA Ireland, will attend the event and engage with Indian companies on opportunities to build stronger business and technology linkages between India and Ireland.

Focus on high-value technology
Gaskin’s visit comes at a time when India and Ireland are deepening engagement across high-value technology sectors, including software, cloud, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data analytics, semiconductors and digital transformation.

These areas increasingly bring together India’s engineering strengths with Europe’s demand for high-value technology, innovation and R&D capabilities.

IDA Ireland’s India team works with companies across IT-enabled services, hardware, software and product development, advanced engineering and future mobility.

Ireland’s technology ecosystem
Ireland is home to 16 of the world’s top 20 technology companies and employs more than 106,000 people in ICT. This provides Indian companies with an established base for software, cloud, R&D and advanced manufacturing operations.

Ireland is also witnessing strong demand for AI-related skills. IDA Ireland has set a target of securing €7 billion in new research, development and innovation investment under its 2025–29 strategy.

For Indian technology companies evaluating European expansion and building AI, cloud and cybersecurity capabilities, Ireland offers access to specialised talent, an English-speaking business environment and strong industry, university and research linkages.

With Ireland currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the engagement also comes at a significant time, with competitiveness, innovation and strengthening of the Single Market high on the EU agenda.

Scope for semiconductor collaboration
The opportunity extends to Indian companies across advanced engineering and semiconductor value chains. Ireland has more than 20,000 people working in the semiconductor sector and hosts over 100 companies, including 15 of the world’s top 30 semiconductor companies.

The country’s semiconductor ecosystem spans design, manufacturing, engineering and R&D, supported by networks such as the RINN Network.

As India advances its semiconductor ambitions, stronger engagement with Ireland could help combine India’s growing manufacturing and engineering capabilities with Ireland’s strengths in research, talent and innovation. It could also support Indian companies seeking to expand their operations into Europe.
