Tata Chemicals Ltd’s wholly owned subsidiary Tata Chemicals North America Inc (TCNA) has secured critical contract acquisition from USA-based Searles Valley Minerals Inc., USA, for a cash consideration of $21.16 million.
The acquired contracts secure more than 500,000 tonnes of demand and are expected to generate revenue of over $110 million from September 2026 through December 2028.
Bankruptcy proceedings
TCNA, has been declared the successful bidder in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings of Searles Valley Minerals.
The transaction has been approved by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
Contract signed
TCNA has entered into an Assignment and Assumption Agreement with Searles Valley Minerals for acquiring certain soda ash customer contracts and related commercial rights.
Soda ash is a key industrial chemical used in applications including glass manufacturing, detergents and chemicals. Tata Chemicals has an established global soda ash business, with operations and customer markets spanning India, North America, Europe and other regions.
Acquisition strengthens North American presence
The transaction is expected to strengthen TCNA’s position in the North American soda ash market by expanding its domestic customer base and deepening long-term customer relationships. It is also expected to improve demand visibility, support customer retention and contribute to sustainable value creation.
