India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd (IYM) is advancing its strategic restructuring with a proposal to integrate Yamaha Motor Electronics India Pvt Ltd (YEIN) into IYM, a move aimed at streamlining operations and strengthening cross-functional collaboration.
The integration is part of Yamaha’s broader effort to create a more agile organisational framework capable of supporting sustainable growth as the mobility industry undergoes rapid changes driven by electrification, sustainability and technological advancements.
The proposed integration will bring YEIN’s expertise in electrical and electronic components closer to Yamaha’s core product development and manufacturing ecosystem. The company expects this to strengthen its premium product portfolio while supporting the development of next-generation and electrified mobility solutions.
Yamaha Motor India Group Chairman Hajime Aota said the integration of YEIN represents an important milestone in creating an agile and future-ready organisation aligned with Yamaha Motor’s global technology vision.
“By bringing electrical and electronic component expertise directly into our core development and manufacturing ecosystem, we will accelerate innovation in energy management. This transformation enhances our responsiveness to evolving market demands, creates greater value for our customers, and reinforces the foundation for Yamaha’s sustainable long-term growth in India,” Aota said.
Integration targeted for first half of 2027
The restructuring is expected to be completed by the end of the first half of 2027, subject to necessary regulatory and stakeholder approvals.
Yamaha said it will maintain business continuity throughout the process, with no disruption expected for customers, business partners or employees.
Following the integration, YEIN’s electrical and electronic component expertise will continue to play an important role within IYM, supporting product development and manufacturing priorities.
The unified organisation is also expected to create greater opportunities for talent development, knowledge sharing and innovation, while strengthening Yamaha’s long-term competitiveness in India.
India gains importance in Yamaha’s global strategy
Yamaha Motor entered India in 1985 through a joint venture and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., Japan, in August 2001. In 2008, Mitsui & Co. joined Yamaha Motor Co. as a joint investor in India Yamaha Motor.
In 2013, Yamaha Motor established Yamaha Motor Research & Development India Pvt Ltd. (YMRI) to provide research and development and product development services to IYM for both domestic and export markets.
IYM operates manufacturing facilities at Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh and Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, which produce motorcycles and parts for domestic and overseas markets.
The integration of YEIN is expected to further strengthen the technology and manufacturing ecosystem supporting Yamaha’s India operations as the company prepares for the next phase of mobility, including electrified products and advanced energy-management technologies.
