Ahmedabad Gets First Garner Hotel As IHG Accelerates India Expansion

CW Bureau ·

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement for Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera, accelerating the expansion of its newest midscale conversion brand in India.

Scheduled to open in 2029, the 40-key hotel will be developed by Devpriya Buildcon and managed by United Hospitality Management (UHM) India, one of IHG’s third-party hotel management partners in the country.

The signing marks the first Garner hotel in Ahmedabad and further strengthens the relationship between IHG and UHM as the companies expand branded hospitality offerings across high-growth markets in India.

Through its partnership with IHG, UHM provides operational expertise, owner-focused management solutions and internationally branded hospitality experiences across key markets.

Garner targets value-conscious travellers
Garner, described by IHG as its fastest-scaling global brand, builds on the company’s presence in the essentials segment, offering quality accommodation at an accessible price point.

The brand is designed around the core requirements of value-conscious travellers, with emphasis on convenient locations, comfortable stays, a good night’s sleep and breakfast.

Garner hotels also benefit from IHG’s quality standards, enterprise systems and loyalty ecosystem.

Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera will be located at the Motera-Sabarmati junction in North Ahmedabad, close to major demand generators including the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Sabarmati Bullet Train hub and nearby corporate districts.

IHG Hotels & Resorts Managing Director, South West Asia, Sudeep Jain, said Ahmedabad is emerging as an important commercial and infrastructure growth centre, supported by economic activity and improving connectivity.

“Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera is a meaningful addition to our India growth strategy and reflects the appeal of the brand’s model for high-potential markets,” he said.

Jain added that the signing reinforces IHG’s focus on delivering quality and reliable stays for value-conscious travellers.

UHM deepens IHG partnership
United Hospitality Management – India, Managing Director, Deepika Arora, said the company was pleased to strengthen its partnership with IHG through the new signing.

She said the growing collaboration reflects owner confidence in the strength of IHG’s global brands combined with UHM’s local operating capabilities.

UHM’s focus, she added, remains on operational excellence, improving long-term asset performance and delivering guest experiences.

Devpriya Buildcon Partner Prashant Thakkar said Ahmedabad’s economic expansion, infrastructure development and rising visitor demand make the city an attractive market for branded hospitality.

The partnership with IHG and UHM to bring the Garner brand to Motera aligns with the developer’s plans to create future-ready assets for modern travellers, he said.

Mixed-use development
Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera will feature 40 modern rooms designed around comfort and functionality.

The hotel will form part of a mixed-use development comprising retail outlets, banquet and restaurant facilities, as well as a hospital, creating an integrated offering for guests and the wider community.

Ahmedabad is one of India’s major economic and industrial centres, with established strengths across pharmaceuticals, textiles, information technology, infrastructure and corporate headquarters.

Continued investments in sports and transport infrastructure are also supporting the city’s hospitality demand.

IHG expands Ahmedabad footprint
The signing expands IHG’s presence in Ahmedabad, which currently includes Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre and Holiday Inn Express Ahmedabad Prahlad Nagar.

Holiday Inn Ahmedabad is also in the company’s development pipeline.

With Garner’s debut in Ahmedabad, IHG is adding another midscale offering to a city that is witnessing continued economic activity, infrastructure development and increasing demand for branded accommodation.
