Kinetic Watts & Volts Ltd (KWV), the electric vehicle manufacturing subsidiary of Kinetic Engineering Ltd, is preparing to take its electric two-wheeler business beyond India, evaluating opportunities across selected markets in Europe, neighbouring countries and Africa.
The company’s initial international focus includes Turkey in Europe; Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in South Asia; and Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt in Africa.
The expansion marks the next phase of Kinetic EV’s growth strategy as the company seeks to tap markets with potential for electric two-wheelers. It is currently assessing regulatory environments, customer requirements, market opportunities and potential partnerships before establishing an international business.
Domestic network provides launchpad
Kinetic EV’s international ambitions come as the company expands its presence in the Indian market.
The company currently operates 45 exclusive showrooms across India and expects another 40 outlets to become operational over the next two months.
It has also issued 150 Letters of Intent (LOIs) for its exclusive dealership network, indicating strong interest from prospective partners and growing confidence in the company’s electric mobility proposition.
Kinetic EV plans to leverage this domestic expansion as a foundation for building its international business, while developing the distribution capabilities and partnerships needed to enter overseas markets.
Turkey, South Asia and Africa in focus
Turkey has been identified as a key opportunity in Europe, while Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are being evaluated in neighbouring markets.
In Africa, Kinetic EV is assessing opportunities in Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt.
The markets are being evaluated based on their potential for electric two-wheelers, evolving EV ecosystems, customer requirements and the availability of suitable distribution and strategic partners.
Makarand Joshi to lead global expansion
To spearhead its international business development, Kinetic Watts & Volts has appointed Makarand Joshi, who brings more than two decades of experience in developing international markets for Indian automotive products.
Joshi has worked across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa, with experience spanning two-wheelers, commercial vehicles and tractors. His expertise includes international market development, business expansion and distribution network development.
Kinetic Watts & Volts Ltd Vice Chairman & Managing Director Ajinkya Firodia said international markets represent an important opportunity as the company enters the next phase of its electric mobility journey.
“Our products are built in India for the world, with a strong focus on delivering accessible, reliable and contemporary electric mobility solutions that can cater to diverse markets. We are now focused on identifying the right markets, partnerships and opportunities to take the Kinetic EV proposition global,” he said.
Firodia said the company’s growing domestic network provides a strong foundation for international expansion.
“With 45 exclusive showrooms already operational, another 40 expected to come online in the next two months and 150 Letters of Intent issued, we are seeing encouraging interest in the Kinetic EV proposition,” he said.
Made-in-India EV platform
Established in September 2022, Kinetic Watts & Volts is the dedicated EV manufacturing subsidiary of Kinetic Engineering.
The company operates an 87,000 sq ft manufacturing facility, combining automation and quality systems with scalable and environmentally conscious production capabilities.
KWV is focused on developing Made-in-India electric mobility products aimed at urban transportation, building on the Kinetic Group’s long-standing presence in the Indian automotive industry.
