Kia India has launched the Kia Sorento in India at introductory prices starting at ₹27.99 lakh for the diesel variant and ₹29.99 lakh for the hybrid variant (ex-showroom), marking the automaker’s entry into the premium three-row SUV segment.
Official deliveries of the Sorento began nationwide on September 4, 2026.
The launch also marks two significant firsts for Kia India — its first hybrid offering and the global debut of the Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI capabilities on the India-spec Sorento. Kia said the technology makes the Sorento the first SUV in its segment to offer the capability.
Kia India, Managing Director and CEO, Gwanggu Lee, said the arrival of the Sorento represents a defining milestone for Kia India as it enters the premium three-row SUV segment for the first time.
He said the India-spec Sorento combines Kia’s global design philosophy with next-generation technology, advanced safety, premium comfort and expanded powertrain choices. The SUV is built in India for Indian customers.
Global SUV nameplate
The Sorento has been sold for more than 24 years across four generations and has attracted over 4.8 million customers in 132 countries, making it one of Kia’s most successful global SUV nameplates.
The India-spec model measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and has a 2,815 mm wheelbase. With roof rails, its height is 1,785 mm. Kia said the Sorento is the longest and widest SUV in its segment.
The SUV features Kia’s Digital Tiger Face, Crystal Cube LED Projection Headlamps, Star Map LED DRLs and Star Map LED Tail Lamps. It is offered with 18-inch Sporty Crystal Cut Alloy Wheels and 19-inch Premium Crystal Cut Alloy Wheels.
Premium three-row cabin
The Sorento is available in six- and seven-seater configurations. Its cabin features a Panoramic Curved Display Panel comprising a 31.24-cm (12.3-inch) HD touchscreen navigation cockpit and a 31.24-cm (12.3-inch) HD instrument cluster.
Other features include a windshield Head-Up Display, Advanced Digital IRVM, dual-pane panoramic sunroof and 64-colour ambient mood lighting.
The SUV gets 10-way power driver and co-passenger seats with lumbar adjustment, relaxation functions, driver-seat Ergo function and an integrated memory system. Three-step ventilated seating is also available for second-row passengers.
AI-powered connectivity
The India-spec Sorento introduces Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI capabilities globally. The system supports natural conversations, follow-up questions and real-time information through search.
It can also provide vehicle-specific information through integration with the owner’s manual and control select functions such as air-conditioning and windows through the “Hey Kia” wake word.
Other connected features include Kia Connect 2.0 with more than 85 connected-car functions, OTA updates for up to 30 controllers, Digital Key 2.0, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Remote Vehicle Immobilization.
Kia will launch its Connect Store for the Sorento in December 2026, initially offering Feature on Demand services and personalised Display Themes featuring Disney, Marvel and Pixar.
Hybrid and diesel powertrains
The Sorento is offered with Kia’s Smartstream powertrain options — a 1.6-litre Turbo GDI Hybrid and a 2.2-litre diesel engine.
The hybrid powertrain, Kia India’s first, is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and produces 180 PS of engine power and 265 Nm of torque. The electric motor delivers 65 PS and 264 Nm of torque.
The Smartstream D2.2 diesel engine produces 193 PS and 442 Nm and is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Both powertrains offer Eco, Normal, Smart and Sport drive modes. Both are also available with all-wheel drive (AWD), with the Sorento becoming the first SUV in its segment to offer a hybrid powertrain with AWD.
ADAS Level 2+ safety
The Sorento comes with ADAS Level 2+ featuring 30 autonomous functions, including Highway Driving Assist, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.
The SUV gets a 26-feature standard safety package with seven airbags, while the top-line variant receives three additional airbags.
Safety and parking assistance features include a 360-degree camera, Blind View Monitor, 12 parking sensors, five radars and a rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines.
Built on Kia’s global N3 platform, the Sorento incorporates structural and engineering enhancements aimed at improving safety, dynamics and efficiency.
The SUV is available in eight exterior colours and, for the first time in Kia India’s line-up, an exclusive Black Line trim featuring blacked-out exterior elements and 19-inch premium crystal cut alloy wheels.
