HyperVault, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), will develop a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data centre campus of up to 1GW capacity across more than 250 acres in Hyderabad, marking a major push to build AI-ready digital infrastructure in India.
₹70,000 crore investment
HyperVault and its partners are expected to invest up to ₹70,000 crore to build and manage the campus, which will support frontier AI companies and hyperscalers. The project is estimated to generate around 7,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Among India’s largest AI campuses
At full build-out, the campus is expected to rank among India’s largest and most advanced AI infrastructure campuses. It will incorporate green energy and water-neutral design principles, further strengthening Telangana’s position as a strategic hub for AI and advanced digital infrastructure.
The project is also expected to catalyse India’s wider AI infrastructure ecosystem, creating opportunities across power, cooling, networking, construction, engineering and operations.
‘Historic’ project for Telangana
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described the project as “historic” for Telangana and India.
“Hyderabad is now at the forefront of the global AI revolution with a strong focus on infrastructure. This decade is one of Artificial Intelligence. Access to AI models and compute is fast becoming public infrastructure, and having this compute reside in Telangana gives us an advantage,” said Telangana Government, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Telangana beats five states
IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said the project reflected the state’s ability to move quickly on large investments.
“We tell the investors and corporations across the world, Telangana Means Business. We move at speed and with clarity of process that matches the expectations of the tech and corporate world,” said Telangana Government, IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
He said the agreement originated from a conversation between Revanth Reddy and N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, at Davos in January this year. The minister added that Telangana emerged ahead of five competing states to secure the project.
TCS’ infrastructure-to-intelligence strategy
Tata Consultancy Services, CEO K Krithivasan said HyperVault advances TCS’ “Infrastructure-to-Intelligence” strategy by combining AI-ready infrastructure with its cloud, engineering, enterprise transformation and AI capabilities.
“Hyderabad offers the scale, talent and ecosystem to serve global customers,” Krithivasan said, while thanking the Telangana government for its support and investment-friendly policies.
Infrastructure for next-generation AI
HyperVault AI Data Center Ltd, MD and CEO Deepesh Nanda said the company is building infrastructure designed for the next phase of AI, including higher-density computing, liquid cooling, larger power blocks and faster deployment.
“Hyderabad gives us the foundation to build that at scale for frontier AI companies and hyperscalers,” Nanda said.
The project is expected to position Hyderabad as a major destination for AI compute infrastructure while supporting the development of a broader ecosystem around next-generation data centres in India.
