ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has launched AM/NS Pelican, a premium galvanised steel brand aimed at meeting the growing demand for corrosion-resistant steel across India’s construction, infrastructure, manufacturing and engineering sectors.
The launch strengthens AM/NS India’s portfolio of value-added steel solutions and comes at a time when infrastructure development and industrial expansion are driving demand for durable, low-maintenance materials.
The Indian galvanised steel market is estimated at 7.65 million tonnes in CY25 and is projected to grow at around 8% annually through 2030, according to the company.
Focus on corrosion resistance
Galvanised steel is protected by a coating that helps prevent rust and corrosion. AM/NS Pelican has been developed to offer reliable corrosion protection, consistent quality and long service life.
The product features corrosion resistance, uniform coating quality and formability, making it suitable for applications where durability, appearance and ease of fabrication are important.
Pelican can be used across a range of applications, including roofing and roof-support sections, tubes, air-conditioning and ventilation systems, cable trays, fencing, furniture, drums and barrels, besides general engineering applications.
The product will be manufactured using AM/NS India’s advanced galvanising capabilities and distributed through its extensive customer and distribution network across India.
Expanding specialised steel portfolio
AM/NS India Director and Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Ranjan Dhar said Indian customers are increasingly looking for steel solutions tailored to specific applications and performance requirements.
“AM/NS Pelican offers a high-quality galvanised steel solution that combines reliable corrosion protection with consistent quality and performance. The launch further strengthens our growing portfolio of specialised steel products and expands the range of value-added solutions we can offer customers across construction, manufacturing and engineering sectors,” he said.
Pelican is the latest addition to AM/NS India’s portfolio of specialised, value-added steel brands. It follows the launch earlier this year of Structromax and Weldstar.
While Structromax caters to infrastructure and structural applications, Weldstar is targeted at manufacturers of heavy equipment and machinery requiring high-strength steel.
Pelican, in contrast, is focused on applications where corrosion resistance, durability and long-term performance are critical.
Application-focused solutions
The three brands form part of AM/NS India’s strategy to develop application-focused steel solutions as customer requirements become increasingly specialised.
With its galvanising infrastructure and nationwide distribution network, AM/NS India expects Pelican to address the growing requirement for high-performance, corrosion-resistant steel across construction, manufacturing and engineering applications.
The launch also reflects the company’s broader push towards value-added products that offer customers greater choice and solutions tailored to specific end-use requirements.
