Casio Computer Co. Ltd has expanded its G-SHOCK G-STEEL line with the new GST-W1000, combining the brand’s shock-resistant construction with a refined metal exterior.
The new watch uses a multi-component construction in which individual metal surfaces receive different finishes. The design aims to highlight the texture and visual appeal of the metal while retaining G-SHOCK’s signature toughness.
Four-part metal construction
The exterior combines four individually finished metal components instead of using a single bezel component over the centre case. The construction also conceals the mounting screws on the sides, creating an integrated appearance from the bezel through to the bracelet.
Four finishes — straight hairline, circular hairline, mirror and honing — are used across the metal components. The combination creates contrasting reflections and textures as light falls on different surfaces.
Dial uses nano-processing technology
The dial features a three-dimensional geometric texture created using nano-processing technology developed at Yamagata Casio, the manufacturing facility described as the “mother factory” of G-SHOCK.
A radial finish produces distinct reflections across the dial surfaces extending outward from the centre. As the wearer moves the wrist, the surfaces catch light differently, creating changing patterns of shading and lustre.
TOUGH MVT. 2 supports timekeeping
The GST-W1000 is also equipped with TOUGH MVT. 2 for precision timekeeping. Building on the original TOUGH MVT system, the technology detects external disturbances, including impacts and magnetic fields.
The system automatically performs self-regulating control by correcting the hand positions when required. This helps maintain an accurate time display despite external disturbances.
