Ramco Systems’ 30 Years In Malaysia: Unveils AI Vision

CW Bureau ·

Ramco Systems, the global enterprise software company, has marked three decades of operations in Malaysia with the Ramco Now & Next celebration, while showcasing its vision for the next phase of enterprise software driven by artificial intelligence.

The event brought together customers and industry leaders to reflect on Ramco’s journey in Malaysia and explore how enterprise technology is evolving from systems that record information to platforms that can interpret it and initiate action.

A key highlight was a preview of Ramco’s upcoming AI-native enterprise platform, which is being designed to move enterprise software from a system of record to a system of intelligence and ultimately a system of action.

The company said the latest shift is not merely about changing how enterprise software is delivered, but about changing what the software itself does.

Instead of requiring users to log into multiple systems, interpret information and decide what needs to be done, the new platform is designed to surface issues requiring attention and prepare the resulting action for human approval.

During the keynote, Ramco demonstrated a scenario in which the platform identifies a projected stock shortfall across multiple warehouses and prepares the corresponding replenishment requests for approval.

“Nobody running a business today is short of information. They are short of the time to go and assemble it into something they can act on. What we are building is meant to do that assembly for them, and bring the next step with it, while leaving the judgement where it belongs,” said Ramco Systems Managing Director Abinav Raja.

From periodic processing to continuous validation
Payroll was showcased as another example of how AI and machine learning could change enterprise processes.

Under the traditional model, payroll teams typically work through a monthly processing cycle, with anomalies often identified towards the end of the period. Ramco’s approach is to enable continuous validation, allowing anomalies to be flagged as they arise.

AI and machine learning technology carries out the processing, while payroll teams retain responsibility for review and final sign-off.

Ramco has operated in Malaysia since 1996 and currently processes payroll for more than 100,000 employees every month across more than 50 Malaysian organisations spanning over 15 industries.

Kuala Lumpur serves as one of Ramco’s regional support hubs for HR and Global Payroll, while Singapore serves as its Asia headquarters.

Three decades of customer relationships
The Malaysia milestone also highlighted the longevity of Ramco’s customer relationships in the market, with some customers having worked with the company for decades as its technology platform evolved.

“We have spent thirty years in Malaysia solving problems our customers could not afford to get wrong. Some of the organisations we recognised today started with us decades ago. They have been part of our journey and been with us as our platform transformed and modernized over the years. Thirty years is not the achievement. Those relationships are,” said Ramco Systems Chief Executive Officer Sandesh Bilagi.

The company’s latest platform direction signals a broader transition in enterprise software, where the focus is shifting from providing businesses with information to helping them identify what matters, recommend the next step and prepare actions, with humans retaining control over critical decisions.
