Ultraviolette is expanding its manufacturing footprint in Tamil Nadu with plans to establish a new state-of-the-art electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Hosur, targeting an eventual production capacity of 500,000 vehicles a year.
The Bengaluru-based electric mobility company said the BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory will initially ramp up to an annual capacity of 250,000 vehicles in phases, with infrastructure designed to scale production to 500,000 units as demand grows.
The facility will manufacture Ultraviolette’s upcoming Tesseract electric scooter and is also being designed to support future products across Sports, Crossover, Cruiser, Street and Scooter segments.
Hosur becomes the next manufacturing base
The Tamil Nadu government will facilitate land allotment for the facility at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Shoolagiri, placing the proposed factory within one of the state’s established automotive manufacturing clusters.
Ultraviolette said Hosur’s proximity to Bengaluru, its R&D operations and existing supplier network will provide supply-chain and manufacturing advantages as the company scales.
The facility is expected to create around 2,000 jobs in its initial phase, with employment expected to increase over the next five years as production operations are scaled up.

Over the last few years, we have built our foundation around technology, performance and product innovation; the next phase is about building the scale to take that foundation much further,” said Ultraviolette, Co-founder & CEO Narayan Subramaniam.
From premium EVs to mass-scale manufacturing
The proposed factory represents a shift in Ultraviolette’s manufacturing ambitions as the company moves from establishing its performance-focused electric mobility proposition to building production capacity for a wider product portfolio.
The company said its existing manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka, will continue regular operations alongside the BIGGA Factory. The two locations will form part of Ultraviolette’s longer-term manufacturing and technology footprint in India.
The planned capacity of 250,000 vehicles in the initial phase, with an eventual ability to reach 500,000 units annually, gives the company significant headroom to expand volumes if demand for its products develops in India and overseas markets.
Industry 4.0 at the core
Ultraviolette is designing the Hosur facility around Industry 4.0 manufacturing principles, with digital systems and automation intended to improve production traceability, quality and manufacturing efficiency.
A Manufacturing Execution System will provide real-time production track-and-trace capabilities, alongside digital lean manufacturing and digital quality systems.
The factory will also deploy collaborative robots for sorting, welding and assembly, automated assembly fool-proofing and vision-based inspection systems across key manufacturing processes.
The company said these systems will help improve precision and consistency while allowing production to be scaled in a flexible manner.
Factory built for future products
The BIGGA Factory is being designed not merely as a production facility for the Tesseract but as a scalable manufacturing platform for Ultraviolette’s future portfolio.
A specialised test track at the facility will allow every vehicle to undergo evaluation before dispatch, covering design, performance and quality parameters.
“This Green facility has been planned with scalability and flexibility at its core, enabling Ultraviolette to progressively scale production of the Tesseract while creating the manufacturing infrastructure required to bring future products into production as the company’s portfolio evolves,” the company said.
Global ambitions drive expansion
Ultraviolette’s manufacturing expansion comes as Indian electric two-wheeler makers increasingly look beyond the domestic market and seek to build products and technologies that can compete internationally.
“Hosur is a key manufacturing hub with a well-established automotive ecosystem, significant supply-chain advantages and close proximity to Ultraviolette’s R&D operations and existing supplier network,” said Ultraviolette, Co-founder & CTO Niraj Rajmohan.
He said the BIGGA Factory would enable the company to deliver the Tesseract and future products to customers in India and international markets while maintaining quality and performance standards.
For Ultraviolette, the Hosur investment is therefore more than a capacity expansion. The company is seeking to create an integrated manufacturing base capable of taking its technology-led electric mobility products from development and production in India to markets overseas.
The BIGGA Factory is expected to become the industrial backbone of the company’s next growth phase, combining automation, digital manufacturing, sustainable infrastructure and access to the wider Hosur automotive ecosystem.
