Pune teenager Sarthak Chavan completed a second consecutive victory in the premier Super Sport 301-400cc Open class as the second round of the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge 2W – 2026 concluded at the Madras International Circuit on Sunday.
Starting from pole, Sarthak lost the lead at the start, allowing Chennai teenager and Petronas TVS Racing team-mate Rakshith Dave to move ahead.
The two riders remained locked in battle until the final lap, when Sarthak made his decisive move at Turn 4. He passed Rakshith and held on to take the chequered flag. Hyderabad’s Rahil Pillarisetty of RACR Castrol Power1 fought his way up from the back of the grid to finish third, but the gap to the leading pair proved too large to close.
Kabilesh makes it a double
Chennai’s 16-year-old Kabilesh Rajini Krishnan of RACR Castrol Power1 also completed a double in the Super Stock 301-400cc Open class.
After winning Race 1 on Saturday, Kabilesh topped Race 2 following a red-flag stoppage and restart. The race was reduced to a three-lap sprint, but Kabilesh controlled the contest to finish ahead of Bengaluru’s Seshadri S of Motul Gusto Racing and Chennai’s Kamal Navas of Rockers Racing.
Ann Jennifer extends winning streak
Chennai rider Ann Jennifer of Motul Sparks Racing maintained her unbeaten run in the Super Stock 165cc Intermediate class with another victory.
The win completed her double for the round and marked her fourth consecutive victory of the season.
Another Chennai rider, Anandhu KK of Veedol C2 Racing, also secured a double in the Stock 301-400cc Novice class. The race was shortened to four laps following a red-flag stoppage.
Faruk Ali Sohtun takes Stock 165cc Novice win
Faruk Ali Sohtun of Motul Sparks Racing produced one of the notable performances of the weekend, securing victory in the Stock 165cc Novice class.
Representing East Khasi, Meghalaya, Faruk held his nerve in a close finish to lead a Motul Sparks Racing sweep of the podium.
Yashwant Varma of Visakhapatnam finished second, while Raja Sreeharsha Singamsetty of Tadipatri, Andhra Pradesh, took third.
Venkatesan wins action-packed Pro-Stock race
The weekend’s final race delivered an intense battle in the Pro-Stock 200cc Open class, with Venkatesan Iyyappan emerging victorious.
The six-lap race saw around half a dozen riders exchange the lead before Venkatesan managed to break clear. The contest took another turn in the final lap when a couple of riders in contention crashed, allowing Venkatesan to secure the win.
TVS one-make championship
In the Petronas TVS Racing One-Make Championship, Chennai’s Kamal Navas claimed his second win of the season in the Expert (RR 310) class.
The race was reduced to four laps and restarted following an on-track incident. Navas took the chequered flag ahead of fellow Chennai rider Manoj Yesuadiyan, with Hari Haran R of Coimbatore finishing third.
In the Rookie class for Apache RTR 200 motorcycles, Bengaluru’s Dev Agastya secured his second victory of the season. He held off Rehbar Islam Baktoo from Jammu and Kashmir and Coimbatore’s Godwin Clarance.
Sarthak adds EV victory
Sarthak Chavan completed a productive weekend by extending his winning run to the four-lap Electric RTE EV race.
The Pune rider took the victory ahead of Bengaluru riders Chiranth Vishwanath and Savion Sabu, who finished second and third respectively.
The second round of the national two-wheeler racing championship thus ended with a strong showing by young riders, particularly from Chennai and Pune, across the premier, stock, novice, one-make and electric categories.
