SEMICON India 2026, the country’s premier semiconductor and electronics exhibition and conference, will bring together more than 600 exhibitors from across the global value chain as India seeks to strengthen its position as a trusted semiconductor manufacturing and technology partner.
The fifth edition of the event will be held from September 17–19, 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to inaugurate the three-day event on September 17.
Organised jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and SEMI, the global industry association for the semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing ecosystem, SEMICON India 2026 will bring together semiconductor companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, academia, start-ups and students.
Building the semiconductor ecosystem
The event will be held under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”, reflecting India’s effort to build capabilities across the semiconductor value chain, from materials and manufacturing to advanced packaging, chip design, electronics and systems.
More than 600 exhibitors, including about 300 international companies, will participate across 15,000 square metres of exhibition space. The event will feature more than 150 speakers, six country pavilions and 12 state government pavilions.
The exhibition will also include a Startup Pavilion, Innovation Showcase, Startup Pitch Competition, Student Hackathon, Workforce Development Pavilion and Women’s Forum.
From sand to silicon to systems
A key attraction will be the new ‘Sand to Silicon to Systems’ Value Chain Experience, designed to give visitors an integrated view of the semiconductor ecosystem and showcase India’s capabilities across different stages of the value chain.
Around 40 start-ups will participate in the Startup Pavilion, while the Workforce Development Pavilion will focus on talent, skills and career opportunities in microelectronics.
The event is also expected to provide a platform for Indian and global companies to explore technology partnerships, investments, supply-chain linkages and manufacturing opportunities.
Global semiconductor majors to participate
SEMICON India 2026 is expected to attract leading semiconductor and electronics companies, including ASML, Applied Materials, Teradyne, Infineon, Ebara, Jabil, IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Merck KGaA, Rapidus, Lam Research, CG Power, Uno Minda, Advantest and Tokyo Electron.
The participation reflects the growing international interest in India’s semiconductor ecosystem as companies seek to diversify manufacturing and supply chains.
Focus on AI, chip design and advanced packaging
The three-day conference programme will feature keynotes, panel discussions and strategic sessions covering semiconductor manufacturing and technology, artificial intelligence, supply-chain resilience, advanced packaging, materials and equipment, chip design, research and development, start-ups, innovation and talent development.
The programme will also include six International Country Roundtables, a session on Women Empowerment & Leadership, a Workforce Development Session and a special session on collaboration among industry associations to support India’s electronics system design and manufacturing growth.
Semiconductor push moves from policy to production
SEMICON India 2026 comes as the government’s semiconductor programme moves from project approvals towards actual production.
Under the Semicon India Programme, the government has approved 12 semiconductor projects aimed at building a resilient domestic ecosystem. Three of the 12 projects approved under Semicon 1.0 have already commenced commercial production.
The Union Cabinet has also approved Semicon 2.0, the next phase of the programme, with six major pillars aimed at accelerating semiconductor ecosystem development.
Alongside manufacturing, the government is supporting semiconductor research, innovation and design. Electronic Design Automation tools have been made available to more than 400 academic institutions and 105 start-ups, while 24 start-ups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme.
India’s semiconductor opportunity
India’s semiconductor ambitions are being driven by rising demand for chips from artificial intelligence, advanced computing, electric vehicles, telecommunications and other digital technologies.
The global semiconductor market was valued at around $796 billion in 2025 and is projected to exceed $2 trillion by 2030. India’s semiconductor demand, currently estimated at around $50 billion, is projected to reach approximately $103 billion by 2030.
This expanding demand, combined with government incentives, a large skilled workforce and growing global interest in supply-chain diversification, is creating opportunities for India to strengthen its role in semiconductor design, manufacturing, research and electronics production.
A platform for global partnerships
With the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”, SEMICON India 2026 seeks to demonstrate the progress of India’s semiconductor journey from policy and project approvals to capability building and production.
The event is expected to serve as a platform for investment, technology partnerships, supply-chain integration, talent development and knowledge exchange, supporting India’s ambition to emerge as a global hub for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.
