Air India’s Maharaja Club is expanding its focus beyond air travel, allowing members to earn and redeem Maharaja Points across flights, hotels, retail, banking and other everyday spending categories.
The comprehensive travel and lifestyle programme enables members to earn points across Air India, Air India Express, Star Alliance partner airlines and more than 100 travel, hospitality, retail, lifestyle and financial services partners.
Rewards across travel and everyday spending
The programme’s partner network includes IHG Hotels & Resorts, The Bicester Collection, Booking.com, Audi, Avis, HSBC and Kotak Mahindra Bank, giving members opportunities to accumulate Maharaja Points beyond airline bookings.
Members earn points on eligible flights operated by Air India, Air India Express and Star Alliance partner airlines. Additional rewards are available for bookings made directly through Air India’s channels.
New members receive 1,000 bonus Maharaja Points on their first flight after enrolment. Maharaja Points also do not expire, allowing frequent travellers to accumulate them over time.
Award flights start from 1,500 points
Maharaja Club members can redeem points for award flights starting from 1,500 points on Air India Express and 2,500 points on Air India.
Cabin upgrades can be redeemed starting from 4,500 points. The programme has also lowered the points required for select award flights and cabin upgrades.
The Cash + Points option allows members to combine points and money when making a booking. Members who do not have sufficient points can also purchase additional Maharaja Points to top up their balance.
Air India has also simplified the process for claiming missing points from its flights through boarding-pass uploads.
Lounge access and priority services
Maharaja Club offers tier-based travel benefits in addition to points. Eligible members have access to more than 1,000 airport lounges worldwide, while complimentary inflight Wi-Fi is available on select Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft.
Depending on their membership tier, travellers can also receive priority check-in, boarding and connections, excess baggage allowance, complimentary seat selection, Fly Prior benefits, cabin upgrade vouchers, and change and cancellation fee waivers.
Family Pool brings rewards together
The programme’s Family Pool feature allows eligible family members to combine their Maharaja Points in a single account.
The feature enables families to pool points towards goals such as award flights, cabin upgrades or holidays, potentially allowing them to reach redemption thresholds sooner.
Programme wins member-voted industry recognition
Maharaja Club was named ‘Program of the Year’ for the Middle East & Asia Pacific region at the Freddie Awards 2026, a member-voted recognition in the travel loyalty industry.
The programme has introduced several changes over the past year, including earning and redemption opportunities on Air India Express, lower flight thresholds for tier progression, reduced redemption requirements on select award flights and upgrades, more flexible award-ticket policies and an expanded partner network.
