4Point2 Technologies, a technology company specialising in AR, VR, MR, XR and immersive digital experiences, has launched an initiative at Hyderabad’s Statue of Equality to combine technology, heritage and storytelling for visitors.
The initiative, launched on September 22, 2026, aims to make visits to the iconic spiritual and cultural destination more interactive and informative by using immersive technology to present stories, traditions and historical narratives.
His Holiness Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji was the chief guest at the launch.
Bringing heritage to a new generation
4Point2 Technologies said traditional Indian folklore, cultural practices and historical narratives have traditionally been passed down through generations, but changing lifestyles are making such forms of storytelling less accessible.
The company is therefore introducing its flagship AR products, combining merchandise with immersive digital storytelling that visitors can access through their personal devices.
The objective is to create a contemporary medium through which visitors can experience historical narratives, their significance and the values associated with them.
Technology meets a 1,000-year legacy
The Statue of Equality is dedicated to Sri Ramanujacharya, the 11th-century saint, philosopher and social reformer whose teachings emphasised equality and inclusion.
Standing 216 feet tall, the monument is among the world’s tallest metallic statues in a seated posture. Made of Panchaloha — an alloy of gold, silver, copper, brass and zinc — it forms the centrepiece of a larger spiritual and cultural destination.
The project was conceptualised and developed under the guidance of Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji to commemorate Sri Ramanujacharya’s legacy and take his message of equality to audiences worldwide.
The complex also houses 108 Divya Desams, sacred Vishnu temples associated with the Tamil Alwar poet-saints and the spiritual traditions that influenced Sri Ramanujacharya.
Another attraction is Swarna Ramanuja, a gold deity of Sri Ramanujacharya made with approximately 120 kg of gold, representing his 120-year journey.
Beyond the monument
The destination’s wider ecosystem encompasses initiatives spanning food, education, healthcare and social inclusion.
The institution also engages with visually challenged persons through opportunities for training, participation and employment. People associated with these initiatives perform various roles across the campus, making inclusion part of the visitor experience.
Residential facilities are also provided for people, including priests and their families, associated with the temple and its activities.
VR takes visitors beyond darshan
4Point2 Technologies is also showcasing a VR Darshan experience that enables devotees to experience temple rituals through immersive 360-degree content.
The experience covers rituals including early-morning ceremonies, Abhishekam, Alankaram and Aarthi, as well as other occasional rituals.
The company said the content has been captured from real temple environments and actual rituals, without VFX, CGI or digitally recreated visuals.
The VR experience is designed not to replace physical darshan but to extend access to the rituals beyond the temple’s physical timings and boundaries.
Technology as a layer of discovery
4Point2 Technologies, Chairman, MD & Founder, K. Shiva Kumar said tourism is increasingly moving beyond simply seeing a destination towards understanding the stories behind it.
“AR, VR, MR, XR gives us an opportunity to create that additional layer of discovery. The Statue of Equality has an extraordinary story spanning spirituality, philosophy, architecture and social service, and technology can help present that story in a format that today’s audiences connect with,” he said.
He added: “Our objective is not to replace the physical experience. It is to enhance it.”
Opportunity for heritage tourism
4Point2 Technologies said the Hyderabad initiative reflects a wider opportunity for technology-backed interpretation across India’s heritage and tourism landscape.
The company sees potential applications across monuments, temples, museums, historical sites and cultural destinations, particularly as tourism operators seek to engage younger and digitally connected audiences.
The Statue of Equality initiative is positioned as an example of how traditional heritage and contemporary immersive technologies can be brought together to create more contextual and interactive visitor experiences.
