Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-AMG G 63 ‘Offroad PRO’ in India at a starting price of ₹3.80 crore, ex-showroom. The limited-edition variant combines the G-Class’s off-road capability with AMG performance and additional hardware designed for challenging terrain.
Enhanced off-road capability
The G 63 Offroad PRO is equipped with AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension, which adds active roll stabilisation and is tuned to the vehicle’s different drive programmes.
The system is designed to provide greater axle articulation, stability and traction when driving off-road. Two dedicated modes — AMG Traction PRO and AMG Active Balance Control — further enhance the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.
AMG Active Balance Control allows the driver to adjust suspension roll stiffness across three levels depending on terrain conditions. AMG Traction PRO, meanwhile, can individually control braking torque at each wheel to maximise traction in the Rock and Sand drive programmes.
Expedition-ready equipment
The Offroad PRO variant gets a PROFESSIONAL roof luggage rack with continuous aluminium panels and a removable rear ladder, allowing larger luggage and expedition equipment to be carried on the roof.
The SUV also features unique 20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels finished in matte black with a diamond-turned rim flange and fitted with 275/50 R20 tyres.
Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer said the Offroad PRO variant builds on the G-Class’s long-standing off-road credentials while adding AMG-specific technology and design elements.
“The AMG G 63 ‘Offroad PRO’ highlights this legacy with enhanced off-road technologies, exceptional performance, and a distinct timeless design,” Iyer said.
585 hp V8 with mild-hybrid technology
Power comes from a handcrafted 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology. The powertrain produces 585 hp and 850 Nm of maximum torque.
The AMG G 63 Offroad PRO uses AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.4 seconds, while its top speed is rated at 240 kmph.
AMG design and technology
The Offroad PRO retains the characteristic G-Class silhouette while adding AMG-specific styling elements, including flared wheel arches, an AMG-specific bumper and a more aggressive front fascia.
Inside, the SUV features Nappa leather, premium materials and customisable ambient lighting. The latest MBUX NTG7 infotainment system includes connectivity features and augmented reality navigation.
A dedicated off-road cockpit on the dashboard provides access to the vehicle’s off-road functions, while an expanded suite of advanced driver assistance systems forms part of the technology package.
Limited units for India
Mercedes-Benz India said only limited units of the AMG G 63 Offroad PRO have been allocated for the Indian market, positioning the variant as an exclusive offering for G 63 customers.
