IHCL Signs 125-Room Gateway Hotel In Siliguri To Meet Tourism Demand

CW Bureau ·

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has signed a greenfield project to develop a 125-room Gateway hotel in Siliguri, West Bengal.

The project will strengthen IHCL’s presence in Siliguri, a key commercial centre serving as a gateway to North Bengal, the Northeast and Bhutan.

Gateway Siliguri to have 125 rooms
Gateway Siliguri will feature 125 rooms and suites catering to both business and leisure travellers. The hotel will offer an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant and a bar.

The property will also include a swimming pool, fully equipped gym and spa. For conferences, weddings and other large gatherings, the hotel will have a banquet hall spread across more than 10,000 sq ft, along with meeting rooms and pre-function spaces.

IHCL expands in emerging markets
IHCL Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development Suma Venkatesh said Siliguri’s strategic location and growing economic activity were driving demand from both business and leisure travellers.

“Gateway Siliguri strengthens our presence in a high-potential market and is in line with our strategy of expanding in emerging growth centres across the country,” she said.

Venkatesh added that IHCL was pleased to partner with Pritam Agarwal and Amit Bhansali for the project.

The owners said the partnership with IHCL would bring the Gateway brand to Siliguri and address the growing demand for a full-service hospitality offering in the region.

Siliguri emerges as a hospitality hub
Siliguri serves as an important gateway to Northeast India and is surrounded by tea gardens and tourist destinations. The city provides access to attractions including the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Coronation Bridge, Trishakti Heritage Complex and Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary.

The new hotel is expected to cater to the city’s business and tourism demand while adding a full-service hospitality offering to the market.

IHCL to have 19 hotels in West Bengal
With the signing of Gateway Siliguri, IHCL will have 19 hotels in West Bengal, including 11 properties under development.

The hotel will be promoted by Siliguri-based businessmen Pritam Agarwal and Amit Bhansali. The group has diversified interests across real estate, retail and transportation and has a longstanding presence in Siliguri and the wider North Bengal region.
