Chatha Foods Starts Commercial Production At Veg Facility In Punjab

CW Bureau ·

Chatha Foods Ltd, a listed Indian manufacturer of chicken and vegetarian food products, has commenced commercial production at its new dedicated vegetarian manufacturing facility, Unit II, in Dera Bassi, Punjab.

Built on 3.5 acres, the facility has an installed annual capacity of 16,000 tonnes and will manufacture products for Unifayre, the market-facing identity of Chatha Foods, as well as quick-service restaurants (QSRs), HoReCa, institutional and private-label customers across India and international markets.

Facility offers multi-category production

The fully automated facility has dedicated production lines for cold-pressed breads, retort cooking, forming and coating, and IQF/blast freezing. It also includes integrated R&D, automated packaging and cold-chain dispatch to support consistent quality and end-to-end traceability.

The facility will manufacture tortillas, Roti Canai, Roti and Kathi Roll wraps and Malabari Parathas. Its cooking-base portfolio will include retorted gravies, pastes and non-mayo sauces, while the snacks and sides range will comprise vegetable and paneer patties, nuggets, kebabs, samosas and handmade spring rolls.

Integrated platform supports customers

The manufacturing platform will allow customers to consolidate sourcing, accelerate product development and scale production across multiple menu applications. These include wraps, rolls, snacks, rice meals, curries and ready-to-serve formats.

“For nearly three decades, customers have trusted us for consistent manufacturing quality, and this investment allows us to extend that capability across a broader vegetarian portfolio. Vegetarian food is a large and growing share of what India eats out, and Unifayre is built to serve any kitchen from a national QSR chain to a single cloud kitchen,” Chatha Foods, Managing Director, Paramjit Singh Chatha, said.

Manufacturing network reaches 30,800 tonnes

With the addition of the Dera Bassi facility, Chatha Foods’ manufacturing network now comprises three specialised facilities. The vegetarian unit in Dera Bassi has an annual capacity of 16,000 tonnes, while its non-vegetarian facility in Mohali has a capacity of 7,800 tonnes.

The company’s joint venture with Allana in Aurangabad has an annual non-vegetarian manufacturing capacity of 7,000 tonnes. Together, the three facilities provide an annual manufacturing capacity of 30,800 tonnes.

Company expands food solutions

The integrated network supports more than 5,000 food outlets, restaurant brands, cloud kitchens, institutional customers and international markets across vegetarian and non-vegetarian categories.

Founded in 1997, Chatha Foods said the new facility strengthens its manufacturing network and expands its ability to provide multi-category food solutions through an integrated manufacturing platform.
