Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia (GCPI), a subsidiary of India-based Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), has inaugurated the first phase of a new manufacturing facility in Indonesia’s Kendal Special Economic Zone as part of an IDR 500 billion (about ₹250 crore) investment.
The investment is aimed at strengthening GCPL’s manufacturing footprint in Indonesia and supporting both domestic demand and exports. GCPI has operated in Indonesia since 2010, with the business growing 4.5 times since then.
Kendal facility focuses on insecticides
The first phase has been developed across 2.5 hectares of GCPI’s 5.5-hectare site in Kendal and is dedicated to household insecticides.
The facility will strengthen GCPI’s manufacturing capabilities for the Indonesian market while creating capacity to support exports. Brands including HIT, Stella, Mitu and NYU currently reach about one in four Indonesian households.
Investment to expand capacity
“Our IDR 500 billion investment in the new Indonesian plant will expand home and personal care categories capacity by approximately 15%. This expansion addresses current capacity utilisation of 75-80%, positioning us to meet rising regional demand and scale,” GCPL, Managing Director & CEO, Aasif Malbari, said.
The Kendal facility represents the next phase of GCPL’s long-term commitment to Indonesia, with the company focusing on local manufacturing and building capacity for future growth.
Facility supports trade and exports
“Godrej new manufacturing facility will serve both Indonesia and export markets, strengthening the connection between investment, manufacturing and trade,” Ambassador of India to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, said.
The facility is expected to strengthen the link between local production and regional trade while enabling GCPL to respond to changing consumer requirements in Indonesia and neighbouring markets.
Focus on local capabilities
GCPL said the Kendal investment will strengthen its ability to serve evolving consumer needs while expanding local manufacturing capabilities.
The company also said the new facility reflects its focus on embedding inclusion and responsibility into its growth strategy as it expands its presence in Indonesia and the wider region.
