IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Vrindam Developers Pvt Ltd to develop voco Vrindavan, a 130-key premium hotel in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh.
The hotel is scheduled to open in Q1 2031 and will mark Vrindam Developers’ entry into the hospitality sector. The project will strengthen IHG’s premium hotel portfolio in North India while bringing its voco brand to one of Uttar Pradesh’s major pilgrimage destinations.
Vrindavan attracts 90 million visitors
The signing comes as Vrindavan and neighbouring Mathura emerge as major tourism and pilgrimage destinations in the Braj region. The two destinations received more than 90 million visitors in 2024, compared with 79 million in 2023.
Visitor arrivals are projected to reach 110 million to 140 million annually over the next decade, creating opportunities for branded accommodation and hospitality services.
Connectivity to Delhi NCR, Agra and Mathura, along with infrastructure projects including the Banke Bihari Corridor and improved expressway links, is expected to support the region’s tourism growth.
voco to bring premium hospitality to Vrindavan
The voco brand combines the character and informality of an individual hotel with the consistency and reassurance of a global hospitality brand.
The brand focuses on a relaxed and distinctive guest experience through its three hallmarks — ‘Come on in’, ‘Me time’ and ‘voco life’.
voco Vrindavan will be part of a larger mixed-use development featuring hotel guestrooms and serviced apartments with shared amenities.
The hotel will have 130 guestrooms, including 13 suites, supported by three dining outlets comprising an all-day dining restaurant, a restaurant and a lobby lounge.
Hotel to have 2,340 sqm of event space
The property will also feature more than 2,340 sq m of meeting and event space spread across six venues. This will include a 1,400 sq m ballroom, positioning the hotel to cater to meetings, weddings and social celebrations in addition to pilgrimage and leisure stays.
Other facilities will include a swimming pool and fitness centre.
IHG targets high-potential destinations
IHG Hotels & Resorts Managing Director, South West Asia, Sudeep Jain, said Vrindavan occupies a unique position in India’s tourism landscape because of its cultural and spiritual significance.
He said the destination’s expanding visitor base creates an opportunity for quality branded hospitality and that voco’s character and relaxed approach are suited to the evolving expectations of travellers.
“We are delighted to partner with Vrindam Developers on their first hospitality venture and look forward to bringing the voco experience to Vrindavan,” Jain said.
Vrindam Developers enters hospitality
Vrindam Developers Pvt Ltd Director Ankush Kadyan said the company was pleased to partner with IHG for its first hospitality venture.
He said Vrindavan’s significance as a pilgrimage destination, together with its growing visitor base and improving connectivity, presented an opportunity for an international hospitality offering.
The company expects the hotel to cater to travellers visiting Vrindavan as well as the wider Braj region.
IHG expands across the Braj tourism circuit
The Vrindavan project will add to IHG’s presence in the region, which will also include an upcoming Holiday Inn Express in nearby Mathura.
The two developments are expected to strengthen IHG’s presence across the Braj tourism circuit as visitor numbers and supporting infrastructure continue to grow.
For IHG, the signing is part of its strategy to expand its premium portfolio in high-potential destinations while bringing internationally recognised hospitality brands to emerging tourism markets.
