Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e, the luxury carmaker’s first-ever electrified Mercedes-Maybach model in India, combining plug-in hybrid technology with the marque’s signature luxury, comfort and performance.
The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in the Mercedes-Maybach range in India. Only 30 units of the model will be available at launch, adding to its exclusivity in the Indian market. The Mercedes-Maybach S580e 4MATIC is priced at ₹3.35 crore.
The new Maybach combines the serenity of electric driving with the flexibility of an internal combustion engine, while bringing together advanced technology, handcrafted luxury and a highly personalised cabin experience.
The S 580e represents the latest evolution of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and is equipped with the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which provides an integrated digital ecosystem designed around personalised controls, connectivity and convenience.
Four-seat First-Class rear cabin
The India-spec Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is offered exclusively with a four-seat First-Class rear configuration, turning the rear compartment into a private luxury lounge.
The cabin features individual Executive rear seats, a full-length Business Centre Console, wireless charging and temperature-controlled cup holders.
The Rear Comfort Package Plus further enhances the rear-seat experience with adaptive ambient lighting, climatised seats, rear wireless charging and rear MBUX controls, along with a comprehensive suite of safety and comfort features.
The focus on rear-seat luxury reflects the Maybach S-Class’s positioning as a chauffeur-driven flagship, with technology and comfort features designed to make long-distance travel more relaxing.
Burmester 4D sound system
The luxury experience is complemented by a Burmester High-End 4D Surround Sound System.
The system features 31 speakers, eight exciters and 1,610 watts of output, creating an immersive multi-dimensional audio experience inside the cabin.
The system also supports Dolby Atmos and sound personalisation, while wireless headphones are provided for rear-seat entertainment.
Six-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain
Powering the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is a six-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain paired with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
The system produces 585 hp of power and 750 Nm of torque, combining electric propulsion with an internal combustion engine to deliver the performance expected from a Maybach flagship.
The powertrain is paired with Mercedes-Benz’s 9G-TRONIC transmission.
The combination is designed to offer near-silent electric driving for shorter journeys while retaining the flexibility of an internal combustion engine for longer-distance travel.
Up to 98 km of electric range
The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e offers a WLTP-certified electric range of up to 98 km. With advanced energy recuperation, Mercedes-Benz says the vehicle can deliver around 100 km of real-world electric driving range, depending on conditions.
The luxury limousine can achieve an all-electric top speed of 140 km/h.
Drivers can select from dedicated Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold drive modes. Adjustable energy recuperation, including one-pedal driving, allows the driving experience to be tailored according to individual preferences and road conditions.
AC and DC charging
The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e supports charging at up to 11 kW through AC and up to 60 kW using DC fast charging.
The charging setup allows owners to recharge the vehicle overnight at home or use DC charging when travelling longer distances.
Mercedes-Benz India is also offering a complimentary home charging solution with every Mercedes-Maybach S 580e.
Expanding electrified luxury portfolio
The launch of the S 580e adds plug-in hybrid technology to Mercedes-Benz India’s top-end luxury portfolio, alongside its existing internal combustion engine and battery electric vehicle offerings.
The company said the move reflects growing interest in plug-in hybrid technology among its high-end customers, particularly those seeking a combination of electric mobility and long-distance flexibility.
“The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e perfectly reflects our strategy of offering the most desirable luxury portfolio, while offering customers the freedom to choose the technology that best suits their lifestyle,” said Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO, Santosh Iyer.
“We are seeing rising demand for Plug-In-Hybrid among our top-end customers, and the Maybach S 580e combines the timeless exclusivity, handcrafted luxury and iconic luxury of a Maybach with the convenience of plug-in hybrid technology,” he added.
According to Iyer, Mercedes-Benz is positioned to offer ICE, BEV and PHEV models across its portfolio, giving customers multiple technology choices while balancing performance, sustainability and luxury.
Maybach enters India’s PHEV luxury segment
With limited availability, a four-seat First-Class cabin and a high-output plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e brings electrification to one of the company’s most exclusive nameplates in India.
The model combines an electric-only driving capability for urban and shorter journeys with the range flexibility of an internal combustion engine, while retaining the comfort and technology expected from the Maybach S-Class.
The launch also marks another step in Mercedes-Benz India’s broader electrification strategy, bringing PHEV technology to its ultra-luxury portfolio alongside its electric and conventional powertrain offerings.
