Andhra Pradesh is stepping up efforts to position itself as one of India’s preferred investment destinations, with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu outlining the State’s ‘Build AP’ strategy at the CII Partnership Summit-2026 Curtain Raiser programme.
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh had secured investments worth ₹22 lakh crore over the past 28 months, while MoUs worth ₹13.50 lakh crore were signed at last year’s Partnership Summit. The State is focusing on faster project execution, infrastructure development and policy support to accelerate investment and employment generation.
Data centres, green energy drive investments
The Chief Minister said global companies including Google and ArcelorMittal were setting up projects in Andhra Pradesh. Google is developing a 1 GW data centre in the State, while the government is also advancing its plans for a large green energy ecosystem.
Of Andhra Pradesh’s 500 GW green energy target, agreements have already been signed for 110 GW, Naidu said. The State is also planning a Green Energy Transmission Corridor.
The government is promoting Andhra Pradesh as a gateway to Southeast Asia and plans to transform Rayalaseema into a Global Horticulture Hub. It is also pursuing the interlinking of the Godavari, Krishna, Pennar, Tungabhadra and Cauvery rivers to address water scarcity across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Shipbuilding and electronics get push
The State is expanding its industrial base through shipbuilding, defence, electronics and drones. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited has come forward to establish a shipbuilding centre at Dugarajapatnam, while Goa Shipyard has agreed to set up a facility at Machilipatnam.
Drone and electronics clusters have been established at Tirupati, Lepakshi and Kopparthi. Naidu also said the Defence Ministry had initiated a fifth-generation fighter jet project in Rayalaseema.
The Centre has approved semiconductor units in Visakhapatnam and other parts of Andhra Pradesh, adding another strategic manufacturing segment to the State’s investment pipeline.
AI and quantum computing in focus
The State government is increasingly deploying artificial intelligence in governance, including through Data Lake-based systems for faster decision-making. AI is also being used in GST collections, which Naidu said had contributed to a significant increase in State revenues.
The government is also redesigning school-level curricula to equip students for careers in AI, industry and commerce.
Quantum computing activities in Amaravati are expected to begin from February next year, while a Global Leadership Centre is being developed in the capital to build leadership capabilities across sectors.
Amaravati seeks global convention centre
Naidu sought the Centre’s support to establish an international-standard convention centre in Amaravati to host major events, including CII Partnership Summits.
He also highlighted the operationalisation of Bhogapuram International Airport and the State’s coastal tourism potential, including Suryalanka in Bapatla.
The Chief Minister said the government would launch its industrial incentives escrow account on November 12 and 13 this year. He also said the NALA Act, which had been an impediment to investments, had been repealed.
Centre backs Andhra’s investment ambitions
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said Andhra Pradesh had a crucial role in India’s development journey and described the State as a destination historically associated with entrepreneurs and industrialists.
Goyal recalled the ship symbol on coins issued during the Satavahana period, when Amaravati was an important centre, saying it reflected the region’s historic maritime trade links.
Goyal praised Naidu as a visionary leader who had embraced technology as early as 1998 and created opportunities for investment in the State. He highlighted the upcoming Google data centre in Visakhapatnam and the Quantum Computing Valley in Amaravati.
The Union Minister said the Centre and States were working together as Team India to drive development, while Andhra Pradesh was leveraging opportunities created by the Union Government to attract major investments.
He said the NDA Government was pursuing the principles of Atmanirbharta, Atmavishwas and Atmaraksha, while extending support to Andhra Pradesh as a Sunrise State.
Naidu said the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were extending strong support to Andhra Pradesh, including financial assistance for Polavaram, Amaravati capital development and other projects.
