Hindustan Zinc Ties Up With Uber For Business For Smooth Employee Travel

CW Bureau ·

Hindustan Zinc Ltd, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and a Vedanta Group company, has partnered with Uber for Business to digitise corporate mobility for its employees, introducing integrated ride booking, corporate billing and travel management through the Uber app.

The partnership will enable Hindustan Zinc employees to switch between personal and business profiles within their existing Uber app and access Uber for Business services across more than 120 cities in India.

The service will cover official travel requirements, including business meetings, mining site visits, airport transfers, client engagements and inter-city journeys. It will also support travel to locations where Hindustan Zinc operates through its head office, sister organisations and regional offices.

Corporate billing integrated with ride booking
A key feature of the arrangement is the integration of corporate billing into the employee travel experience. By digitising the process from booking to billing, the partnership aims to reduce travel administration and simplify the management of official journeys.

The business profile is designed to offer employees a familiar platform for booking work-related travel while enabling the company to streamline its corporate mobility processes.

Hindustan Zinc CEO Amarendu Prakash said the partnership would help extend the company’s digital transformation efforts to everyday employee experiences.

“As we continue to build a more digitally enabled and agile workplace, we are increasingly looking at technology not only to transform our operations, but also to simplify everyday experiences for our employees. Our partnership with Uber for Business brings business mobility onto a platform that is already familiar to our people, giving them greater comfort and access to a trusted ride partner while removing complexities across booking, billing and travel management,” he said.

Extending digital transformation beyond mining operations
The partnership forms part of Hindustan Zinc’s broader efforts to embed technology across its operations and enterprise processes.

The company has been advancing automation, artificial intelligence, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and remote operating capabilities across its mining and processing value chain. It is also deploying digital solutions to improve internal business processes.

The Uber for Business collaboration extends this technology-led approach to employee mobility, bringing corporate travel booking and billing into a single digital workflow.

For businesses with employees travelling frequently between offices, operational sites and customer locations, integrating ride booking with corporate billing can help simplify travel administration. For Hindustan Zinc, the partnership adds a digital mobility solution to its wider programme of workplace and operational technology adoption.
