Maruti Suzuki Brezza Crosses 1.5 Mn Cumulative Sales Milestone

CW Bureau ·

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has crossed the 1.5 million cumulative sales milestone for its compact SUV Brezza, underscoring the model’s decade-long presence in the segment and its contribution to the automaker’s expanding SUV portfolio.

The milestone comes as the recently launched New Brezza has received more than 1 lakh bookings, signalling sustained customer interest in the model amid intensifying competition in India’s compact SUV market.

A decade of brand building
Launched in 2016, the Brezza has played a significant role in shaping the compact SUV segment, with its styling, performance and safety features helping it establish a strong presence among Indian buyers.

Maruti Suzuki said 56% of prospective buyers consider the Brezza even before beginning their vehicle purchase journey, indicating strong brand recall and preference for the model.

The SUV has attracted a diverse customer base, including young professionals and buyers seeking vehicles that combine utility with lifestyle appeal.

The 1.5 million-unit milestone highlights the importance of the Brezza in Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the SUV category, where competition has intensified with new launches and frequent product upgrades by rival manufacturers.

New Brezza gains traction
The new Brezza’s booking tally of more than 1 lakh provides an early indication of demand for the refreshed model. Its updated design, technology features and wider powertrain choices are expected to help the company appeal to a broader customer base.

The response will be important for Maruti Suzuki as it seeks to consolidate its position in the SUV market, a segment that has become increasingly significant for passenger vehicle manufacturers.

For the company, the challenge will be to convert bookings into deliveries while sustaining demand as competing brands expand their offerings and seek to attract buyers through feature-rich products.

Competition raises the stakes
The Brezza’s cumulative sales achievement provides evidence of the model’s staying power, but maintaining that momentum will depend on how effectively Maruti Suzuki responds to changing customer expectations.

With buyers increasingly evaluating vehicles on technology, safety, design and powertrain options, the company will need to keep the Brezza competitive through product updates and a consistent ownership experience.

The latest booking response offers an encouraging start for the refreshed model. Sustaining sales momentum, however, will be key to determining whether the Brezza can build on its 1.5 million-unit milestone and strengthen Maruti Suzuki’s position in India’s competitive SUV market.
