BMW Group India has launched the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition at an ex-showroom price of ₹55.50 lakh, introducing a limited-edition version of the premium hatchback to mark 25 years of modern MINI production at Plant Oxford in the UK.
Available as a completely built-up unit (CBU), the special edition can be booked at authorised MINI dealerships across India, with deliveries commencing immediately. The model was launched at MINI Speed Motorwagen, the newly opened MINI dealership in Lucknow.
The Oxford Edition combines distinctive British-inspired styling with the performance and technology features of the MINI Cooper 3-door. It will be offered in two exclusive exterior colours, Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red, with a white contrast roof carrying the iconic Union Jack design.
British heritage takes centre stage
The launch commemorates the legacy of Plant Oxford, where the classic Mini was first manufactured in 1959 and where BMW Group has produced the modern MINI since 2001.
The special edition incorporates British design cues across the exterior and interior, including a Union Jack-themed contrast roof, white mirror caps and a red-and-white stripe running along the roof. A boot sticker combining the Union Jack and chequered racing flag further highlights the brand’s British roots and motorsport heritage.
The car comes with 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone alloy wheels and JCW sport seats finished in Vescin Black upholstery. Union Jack-themed details also feature on the steering wheel, floor mats, door sills and key cap.
BMW Group India’s President and CEO, Hardeep Singh Brar, said the Oxford Edition brings the legacy of the British manufacturing location to Indian customers through distinctive design and individual styling.
The special edition is aimed at customers seeking a more expressive version of the MINI Cooper, with its heritage-inspired design distinguishing it from the standard model.
204 hp engine delivers sporty performance
The MINI Cooper Oxford Edition is powered by a petrol engine featuring MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. The engine develops 204 hp of maximum power between 5,000 and 6,500 rpm and peak torque of 300 Nm between 1,450 and 4,500 rpm.
Paired with a seven-speed double-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission, the car accelerates from zero to 100 kmph in 6.6 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 242 kmph.
Adaptive suspension and JCW sport brakes are designed to enhance handling and braking response, reinforcing the model’s sporty positioning.
The car also features three selectable lighting signatures for its LED headlights and redesigned matrix rear lights, accompanied by welcome and goodbye animations.
Digital features enhance cabin experience
The Oxford Edition features MINI’s 240 mm circular OLED touchscreen, which serves as the centrepiece of the cabin’s digital interface. MINI Operating System 9 supports touchscreen and voice controls, while the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated through the command “Hey MINI”.
Other technology features include a head-up display, Harman Kardon surround sound system, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and remote services.
The MINI Digital Key Plus allows compatible smartphones to function as digital car keys through the MINI App. The key can also be shared with other users along with their personal vehicle settings.
A cabin-mounted fisheye camera enables occupants to capture photographs and videos, while wireless smartphone charging adds convenience.
The car also offers MINI Experience Modes, which adjust lighting, sound and graphics to create different cabin environments, including Go-Kart, Green and Vivid modes.
The dashboard and door panels use recycled knitted textile surfaces, while the JCW sport seats feature Vescin Black upholstery made from recycled materials. Electric seat adjustment with an active seat function for the driver is offered as standard.
Safety and driver assistance
The Oxford Edition comes with cruise control and Parking Assistant to improve driving convenience. Comfort Access enables automatic locking and unlocking when the vehicle detects the key within 1.5 metres.
Standard safety equipment includes front passenger and side curtain airbags, anti-lock braking system, Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, a rear-view camera and a tyre pressure indicator.
At ₹55.50 lakh ex-showroom, the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition enters India’s premium compact-car market as a limited-quantity offering that combines the brand’s heritage with contemporary technology and performance. The final on-road price will vary depending on applicable road tax, registration charges, insurance and other levies.
