HDFC Bank Ltd, India’s largest private sector lender, reported a 4.7% year-on-year increase in standalone profit after tax (PAT) to ₹19,510 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared with ₹18,641 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Net interest income (NII) rose 9.7% year-on-year to ₹34,620 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, from ₹31,550 crore a year earlier, while net revenue increased 5.6% to ₹48,450 crore from ₹45,900 crore.

The bank’s net interest margin (NIM) stood at 3.16% of total assets and 3.32% of interest-earning assets during the quarter.

Other income, excluding interest income, amounted to ₹13,830 crore in Q2 FY27, supported by growth in fee income. However, lower treasury trading gains and foreign exchange and derivatives revenue partly offset the increase in fees and commissions.

Fee income grows 9.6%
Fees and commissions increased 9.6% year-on-year to ₹9,690 crore in Q2 FY27 from ₹8,840 crore in the year-earlier quarter.

Foreign exchange and derivatives revenue declined 2.5% to ₹1,550 crore from ₹1,590 crore, while treasury trading gains fell 67.4% to ₹780 crore from ₹2,390 crore.

Miscellaneous income, including recoveries and dividends, rose 18.3% to ₹1,810 crore from ₹1,530 crore.

The decline in treasury gains was a key factor moderating the growth in other income, despite the improvement in fee-based revenue.
